Creamery butter, per lb Eggs Country butter, per lb. 34c .17c .25c NEW METAL WORK. It Originated In England, but Is "Catching on" Rapidly Her In America. There is a stunning new metal work Just designed in England which is going to have a great vogue io this country. The method of t'ae new work is somewhat similar to that used in decorating boxes and chests with bands of metal and brass headed nails, though the new applique work is executed in thin metal foil and tiny pin headed nails. Tbese nails are not more than two-eighths of an inch long, and with them the most elaborate designs can be made not at all like the straight metal bands with which one is familiar. : The tools and materials needed are few and very inexpensive, but if work is well done is very pleasing, smart and durable. A charming jardiniere may be made In this way from a wooden butter tub stained a rich dark brown and ornamented with a copper applique fastened on with steel beads. Frames, too. of strong plain whitewood stained dark green and a design worked on in copper is attractive. Quaint designs are easily copied from patterns published In art journals. The tools and materials required are a very small hammer, very tiny nails, a sheet of metal thin enough to cut with a sharp pair of scissors, a strong needle or brad awl to pierce holes for the little design suitable for the article to be. decorated. In the articles illustrated the decoration Is built out of small pieces of copper, the joints being hidden by small nails. Real Trouble. I find it harder and harder to live within my means. "That ought to be easy enough, What I'm trying to do is to live within the means my wifa is endeavoring to make the public believe we have." Chicago Record-Herald.

W. 29-tf PRESIDENT JOINS THE IN-BAD CLUB Worcester Ministers Deplore Taft Attending Celebration on Sunday. PREDICT MUCH CALAMITY CLAIM . CHIEF EXECUTIVE PAID "INDECENT RESPECT TO THE CHRISTIAN CONSCIENCE OF - THE COMMUNITY." (American News Service) Worcester, Mass., April 4. Metho dists and many church people throughout this city deplore the visit of President William H. Taft in Worcester on the Sabbath day In connection with a celebration. Some of the Methodist church pastors spoke in terms from their pulpits yesterday. To the minds of those so disposed to look thus upon the president's part in the parade, President Taft's visit is "an outrage to the NNew England Sabbath"; outrageous because he allowed himself to take part in a "secular parade and meeting." - Rev. Dr. Harvey W.. Ewing, pastor of the Trinity Methodist church expressed the belief that President Taft by his visit to Worcester has wrecked the affairs of state; that the visit paid indecent respect to "The Christian conscience of the community." Rev. John E. Charlton, pastor of Grace Methodist church, said that "the chief executive of our nation violated the feeling of many Christian people by engaging in a public secular parade and meeting on the Sabbath, and that the offense will be injurious to Mr. Taft should he seek a second term in office. Rev. Herbert H. Buckingham, pastor of Laurel Street church, said: "The Lord's Day Is a Christian institution, the outgrowth of the resurrection of our Lord from the grave, the day that is sacred to all. - i-r.rEse, "Bull con." a slanj phrase which means to flatter., to praise with ulterior motives, had its origin in the west years ago. .When the gold brick game was started the bunko men sprang a fine, high sounding combination of words open the simple farmers. They called it an Investment in "bullion consolidated. Tears after the words were cut down to "bull con and came to mean any graft that depended upon the gift of gab. Still later It was used to describe the method of flattery Indianapolis News. -
