ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED. An Interesting letter was received at this office this morning written by MIsa Ilda E. Jones who is visiting with friends and relatives in Pittsburg. Pa. Recently Miss Jones attended an announcement party and an account of the affair is as follows: The Misses Hastings delightfully entertained a large company of friends at their beautiful suburban home at Ben Avou, Pa., Friday of last week. During the afternoon the engagement of Miss Belle Hastings to Mr. Lee C. Peacock of Richmond. Indiana, was announced. The wedding will be celebrated in the near future. The house was beautifully decorated for the occasion with cut flowers. In the dining room red flowers and hearts were utilized In embellishing. The table presented a most attractive appearance with its appointments of red roses and red shaded candles. Candles were placed at each, place. Mr. Peacock is a Y. M. C. A. worker and is also a prominent member of the Friends church. He has a large number of friends in this city. Ac one time he was the Karlham foot ball coach and also coached the local high school team. Mr, Peacock is also a graduate of Earlham college. Miss Hastings is very well known here having visited her sister, Mrs. Sharon E. Jones a number of times. They will reside in this place. Their' many friends in this city extend most hearty congratulations. Miss Jones expects to attend the wedding celebration. , : . J J J ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED. The engagement of Mr. Carl Duning to Miss Freda Erk has been announced. Both young people are well and favorably known here. ' Miss Billheimer Is - widely known among church circles and also as one of the most capable and accomplished trained nurses of Richmond. Her host of friends will greatly miss her. An attractive feature of Thursday's social schedule was the linen shower given by Mrs. Frank Mabey, 521 South Twelfth street, in honor of her sister, Miss Lucy Ford who will be married in June to Mr. Maly of Cincinnati. The house was beautifully decorated with spring flowers and ferns. The bride-elect received a number of beautiful pieces of linen. About fifty guests were invited, thirty being in attendance. Late in the afternoon a delicious spring luncheon in several courses was served. ARE VISITING HERE. Mrs. J. W. McNary and three children of Dayton, 0hi6, are" in the city, being guests at the home of Reir. and Mrs. McNary. ' J J J WILL LEAVE SOON. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mabey of South Twelfth street, expect to leave about the first of April for Indianapolis, which place they will make their future home. J J J IS IMPROVING. The many friends of Mrs. J. Y. Poundstone, who is at Reid Memorial hospital, will be glad to learn that she is Improving. Mrs. Poundstone expects to be able to como home in about a week. . t& MRS. FRANCISCO HOSTESS. Mrs. Hannah D. Francisco gave the first of a series of parties yesterday afternoon at her home On Kinsey 6treet. Spring flowers were used in decorating the different rooms where the guests were received. Thimbles added to the pleasure of the afternoon, all the guests enjoying, an hour at needlework. Miss Lucy Francisco and Miss Edith Francisco, assisted their mother in . entertaining. ' Luncheon was served to forty guests. The first house party of the early spring will be the week-end company to be entertained by Mr. and Mrs. George Dilks, Jr., of Spring Grove. The affair will begin this evening. Zuttermeister was given a very pleasant surprise this afternoon by a number of her friend. The event was arranged for by her daughter, Miss Anna E. Zuttermeister and was in celebration of Mrs. Zuttermeister's seventy-fourth birthday anniversary. The guests Included old acquaintances of the hostess. During the afternoon musical numbers were given. Miss Anna was assisted in entertaining by her niece, Miss Florence Zuttermeister of Lawrence, Kansas, who has been visiting here for the past two months. Refreshments were served.
