R. E. McWhinney, Well Known Local Autoist, Agent for That Machine.
R. E. McWhinney, a well known local autoist, has opened an auto sales company at 416 Main street, where he is doing an excellent business with the famous Mitchell Ranger car, for which he is the exclusive agent in this territory. This car made a unique record last season. Speaking of its record a recent dispatch says: The Mitchell Ranger, famed as the army dispatch bearer which carried war messages last fall from Major General Leonard A. Wood, U. S. A., New York, to Major General John F. Weston, U. S. A., the Presidio, San Francisco, and whose subsequent work as pace maker in the National Highway Tour from New York to Atlanta is still fresh in the public mind, left Cincinnati Feb. 23 to cover the 1910 route of the Glidden Tour which begins from this city about the middle of June and finishes in Chicago about three weeks later. The Ranger will gather all the interesting data 'for every foot of the way in response to the general demand of motorists all over America as well as the big manufacturers, and will thereafter publish the conditions of the wide variety of roads that exist in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri. Iowa and Illinois. Driver Frank Zirbies, one of the most expert and daring pilots that ever sat at the wheel of an auto and who made himself famous in the New York-to-Frisco and New York-to-Atlanta performances, will guide the Ranger over the route.
AN ECHO OF REVOLUTION
MARCH 17 WILL MARK THE 134TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEPARTURE OF THE BRITISH FROM THE CITY.
Dazzling Ink. Here is an actual instance of Russian gallantry. A celebrated opera singer, who once "starred" In Paris, received from a Muscovite prince a handsome brooch set with diamonds. But sot wishing to accept a gift, the motive of which might be misconstrued, she returned it with warm thanks. The next day she received a letter from the prince approving highly of her decision. But the writing In this letter had a singularly glistening appearance, and It afterward transpired that the magnate bad reduced the returned diamonds to fine powder, with which he had besprinkled the wet ink, and had thus insured the acceptance of his boma.ee.
The Twilight Of Life. The muscles of the stomach in old sae are no as strong or active as in youth and in consequence old people are very subject to constipation and Indigestion. Many seldom, have a bowel movement without artificial aid. Many, also, have unpleasant eructations of gas from the stomach after eating. All this can be avoided by the use of Dr. CaldweU's Syrup Pepsin, which permanently regulates the bowels so that passages come naturally, and so strengthens the stomach that food is digested without discomfort. Druggists sell it at SO cents or Si a Urge bottle.
(American News Service) Boston, March 12. The greatest Evacuation day in the history of South Boston will be celebrated in that section of Boston on March 17. The crowning feature will be a big parade for which the war department has ordered all the regular troops in the vicinity to take part. Just 134 years ago the last British soldier left Boston never to return. On the night of March 16, 1776, General Washington and his army occupied
I South Boston Heights and threw up
fortifications and mounted artillery. On the morning of March 17 General Howe, the British commander in Boston, saw that Washington could blow all the British ships in the harbor to pieces and shell the city. So General Howe embarked every man of his soldiers, the ships drew up anchor and the British fleet sailed away never to return. Never Forgotten Day. South Boston has never forgotten the day. It has always been celebrated in this section of Boston with its 90,000 Inhabitants with decorated homes, exercises in the schools, a big parade and a banquet of national interest In the evening followed by fire works. The guests of South Boston this year include Secretary of the Navy George Von L. Meyer, himself a Boston man, and representatives of the army and navy from Washington. There will be a congressman and senators and governors of nearby New England states also present as the guests of South Boston. Lieutenant George H. Nee who won medals of honor for galantry in the Santiago and Philippine campaigns, is to be chief of the staff of the parade
this year. Chief Marshall, Lieuten-'
ant John F. Mclnnes, announced his appointment yesterday. Lieutenant Mclnnes is making arrangements for the big annual parade on the peninsula. He says that it is to eclipse anything of the kind ever seen. He has sent invitations to seven companies of the Ninth regiment, four companies of the Eighth regiment, three companies of the Fifth regiment, four companies of the Coast Artillery M. V. M., four companies of the United States artillery from the navy yard batallion of sailors and marines from the warships and the navy yard, the various veteran associations such as Major M. J. O'Connor, Camp U. S. W. V. Dahigren and Washington Posts of the G. A. R. and the Ninth regiment Veteran Association and a battalion of high school cadets.
