(American News Service) Rochester, Feb. 17. An Important event In the scientific world and one without precedent will be the first convention of the International Congress of Inventors to be held in this city, June 13 to 19. This organization was established for the purpose of bringing the inventors of the world into fraternal and co-operative union for mutual benefit. In this country alone, there are between 200,000 and 250,000 inventors. This action has been found needful from the fact that inventors, as a rule, have not received adequate remuneration for their labors. They are often poor, but skilled as mechanicians, and for lack of a protective organization to guide and guard them In their endeavor to dispose of their products, fall into the hands of unscrupulous capitalists or greedy corporations. Extends Its Influence. It was first instituted in 1906 and Incorporated In 1907. During the past four years it has extended its influence all over the United States and in many foreign countries, and today it has a membership of nearly one thousand Inventors and those closely allied to them. Among the various features of the congress will be a patent exchange where an inventor can enter his patent on his invention and obtain the free advice and assistance of experts in patents regarding the best methods of handling it, either by selling it or financing its development or manufacture. Another department of the work will have charge of national, state and international patent laws, keep files and records of all patent legislation, and in the event of unjust laws bring to bear the influence of the congress to have them changed. In conjunction with the forthcoming convention there will be an exposition of the models of the most important inventors of late years. There will alsb be a department showing models of curious and unique inventions patented during the early years of the last century, and another department showing an imitation of the modus operandi by which inventors enter their devises, how they are examined, .passed upon, accepted or rejected by the patent office.
Whtn Raleigh Lest His Head. Sir Walter Raleigh had just spread his cloak over the mud puddle so that Queen Liza might not wet her understandings as she crossed the street. "What a sign of high breeduljUr enthused her majesty. "Say, rather, madam," smiled Sir Walter, bumping his nose on the curb stone .c"ije bowed, "waterproof of devotion." Now we know why Raleigh was executed. It was on account of this occasion when be undoubtedly lost his head. London Scraps. What To Do For a Cough. "The Golden Girl." Saturday, Feb. 26th, is the date set for the next big Singer production at the Gennett theater for "The Golden Girl" comes to us then fresh from her Chicago triumphs. Some of the big song hits that have already become familiar are: "I Think I Hear a Woodpecker Knocking on My Family Tree"; "I Can't Love Everybody"; "Kiss Me"; and a beautiful Indian love song, which is the most artistic number in the production, calling for costumes that are unusually beautiful and unique. The cast includes such well known artists as Willard Curtiss, Marie Flynn, Mina Davis, Franklyn Farnum, Jos. Neimyer, Charles Horn, Lew Fuller, Peter Raymond, Jack Lawton and Robert Powell, with a chorus of a half hundred beauties from the Princess and La Salle school. "Fluffy Ruffles" The bird of paradise cannot sing. Therefore it will not do to bestow that title upon Florence Gear, no matter how well calculated it may be to convey an idea of her beauty and elegance. Florence Gear can sing, and sing unusually well. She would probably demur at this assertion, for rarer even than a good singing voice in a comedienne is the modesty of Florence Gear. Last season, when her present management cast her for the first time in a singing role that of "Marrying Mary" in the play of the same name Miss Gear would not permit any advance notices to be given out regarding her carefully trained singing voice. It came as a surprise and a most delightful one, when, with her opening number in "Marrying Mary," Miss Gear was found to possess an uncommonly sweet soprano voice of wide range and great power and purity. Encores were demanded of every selection that she rendered. Theatergoers who enjoy good singing and who believe that even in musical comedy as much attention should be paid to the singing voices as to the looks and to the dramatic ability of the actors, will be well satisfied with the treat that Florence Gear and her splendid singing company provide them tonight at the Gennett when the merry musical comedy, "Fluffy Ruffles," is presented. Eight Bells. The above pantomimic comedy which has had such wonderful success everywhere will be seen at the Gennett next Tuesday, matinee and night. The Brothers Byrne are a rarely progressive firm of clever artists, and in this season's production will give their many admirers a rare treat, for they have perfected a number of new and startling tricks besides sev eral scenic effects that are a marvel of stage-craft. An outlay of a large sum of money by these inimitable pantomimists results in one of the most realistic stage productions before the public. The last act is entirely new and will convince" our theater-goers that the Brothers Byrne are head and shoulders over other artists on the pantomimic stage. Everything has been perfected in detail. At the Murray. Soli's Mexican Band proves to be a popular number on the big bill presented at the Murray theater this week. Their music appeals to all. whether one enjoys classical or ragtime. The 1

BALD AT 25 Mr. Armstrong Tells How He Grew Hair in a Short Time. Dear Sirs: "I was told of your great remedy, Parisian Sage, that it would grow hair on bald heads, so I got a bottle and tried it, and it is fine. I am n. young man, and only 2o, and was completely bald on the top of my head, and now I have hair one inch long, wita i the use of only one bottle. I shall certainly keep on using it until I have a good head f hair, which I have no doubt it wtll bring. Oscar Armstrong, Engijieer Belleville Horseshoe and Rolling Mill Co., Belleville, Ont., August 21, 1000. To the readers of the Palladium and Sun-Telegram: The Giroux Mfg. Co , American makers of Parisian Sage, wish to state that they do not guarantee Parisian Sage to grow hair on bald heads, because in most cases the hair root is dead. In the case of Mr. Armstrong the hair root was not dead, and knowing as we do the astonishing hair growing virtue of Parisian Sage, we see no reason why it should not grow hair in the head of Mr. Armstrong. But we do guarantee Parisian Sage (and so does L. H. Fihe. to stop falling hair, dandruff, and itching scalp, in two weeks, or money back. Parisian Sage is a daintily perfumed hair dressing, not sticky or greasy, and is used extensively by ladies who desire brilliant and luxuriant hair that attracts and fascinates. Large bottles, 50 cents, at druggists everywhere and at L. H. Fihe's. A SPORTSJARHIVAL Will Be Started at the Madison Square Garden First of March.
