COUNCIL OF WAR HELD YESTERDAY AND STRUGGLE IS FEATURED BY THE GREATEST BITTERNESS.

CAmerlcan News Service) ') Washington, Jan. 20. The insurgents have forced the regular repub

licans to speak to President Taft for

Intercession, that the democrats may

opposed by a solid front. By this

une move, one of the strongest cards

the political game has been dealt the administration, for it is now in

1 position to force the regulars to support its bills. .1 The visit paid President Taft by John wight, the republican whip, and Jphu Ialzell, chief lieutenant of

Speaker Cannon, was followed today by councils of war among the regulars in connection with the latest fight against Speaker Cannon. This long continued struggle has been pushed into the fore by Representative Fowler the New Jersey insurgent, who introduced a resolution aiming to bar the speaker from the house rules committee.

Mr. Beck was formerly pastor of that congregation. The pulpit at Trinity Lutheran church will be filled today by the Rev. Fred Gahre a student of Capital university, Columbus, Ohio.

CARD OF THANKS. We wish to thank the neighbors, relatives and 6treet car company for their kindness during the sickness and death of my husband and grandson. Mrs. Ruth A. Duke.

The Y. M. C. A. Contractor Will Have Structure Accepted Soon.

WILL PAY OFF CLAIMS

All differences between Caldwell & Drake, contractors who constructed the local Young Men's Christian association building, their creditors and the association, will be settled within a few days, it is believed, and the building committee will then formally turn the building over to the trustees. A representative of the firm was in this city last week and many of the differences were settled at that time. He promised that a complete settlement would be made as soon as possible for the company to inspect its books and check the accounts. While the settlement has been a long time being agreed on. it seems to be all the more welcome to the association officials. After the contracting firm has settled with local contractors to whom they sublet parts of the work of construction, and local supply firms which hold liens against the building for unpaid accounts, the association will pay

the contractors a sum amounting to about $'JH. This amount, in addition to the original contract price, was for extras which were not a part of the contract. It is said that the amount to be spent by the contractors in settling up liens will be $1 ,! or more.
