HAGERSTOWN, IND. Hagerstown, Ind.. Jan. 13. The wedding of Miss Harriet Mettert to Earl Conley will occur in the near future. A shower will be given Saturday afternoon in honor of Miss Mettert by Mrs. Toby Morrison. Mr. and Mrs. Jyle Jones entertained Mr. and Mrs. Francis Antrim, Tuesday. Mrs. Emma Pierce of Garnett, Kan. who has been the guest of a sister at Muncie, Ind., during the winter months, Is visiting here. Mrs. H. C. Teetor entertained Mrs. Carlos Burton at dinner Tuesday. Mrs. II. W. Keagy has spent the first of the week at Indianapolis. The Hagerstown high school is arranging to give a play "Sylvia" at the opera house in the month of March. Rehearsals are being given regularly t after the school period in the afternoon. ' - Helen, the eight months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Beeson, east of town is recovering from a severe cold. Funeral services of Mrs. Margaret Waltz, wife of Peter Waltz were held at the German Baptist church Wednesday and were largely attended. The deceased died of pneumonia and was aged 89 years. She is the mother of Alfred Waltz, a contractor of Mooreland. Mrs. George Rheinegerr was the victim of a pleasant surprise party Tuesday evening at her home, by the ladies of the Presbyterian Aid society. A lunch was served by the ladies and a social evening spent. Those present were Mrs. John Werking, Mrs. Chas. Horine, Mrs. Carlos Burton, Mrs. Will Mathews, Mrs. J. H. Kidwell, Mrs. F. W. Addington. Mrs. Jacob Hutchinson, Mrs. C. E. Werking. Mrs. CJifford Foutz, Mrs. Ed Porter, Miss Keys, Mrs. Thad McCown, Mrs. Wm: Roller, Mrs. Oscar Petro, Misses Crystal Keys, Eva Roller and Dorothy Rheinegerr. The M. E. Missionary society met at the Fist home, Tuesday afternoon. An interesting discussion on "The Savage" was led by the hostess. Miss Cora Castor. After the program, dainty refreshments were served. The Christian Aid society will meet with Mrs. Keagy Tuesday afternoon of next week. The Social Union of the M. E. church held a meeting this afternoon at the parsonage. Mr. and Mrs. James May and two sons are being entertained by Oscar Jones and wife. Mrs. Horace Hurst is visiting her mother and other relatives at Evansville, Tennessee. A card to Dr. Sweney states that her sister, Miss Dora Commons had not been well, but was better. Irvin Warren was at Richmond yesterday. He is looking after personal interests there. Miss Sarah Mehan has been suffering from a gathering on her finger. Henry Newman has been acting as clerk at Bragg's grocery. Oran Bragg has had 12 teams in the field. He has been hauling ice from Creitz's mill at Cambridge City. The ice is ten inches thick. Miss Carrie Walker visited friends at Dublin yesterday. Mesdames Huddleston and Ellebarger of Mt. Auburn. spent yesterday with Mrs. Gray. Fred Lantz of Pendleton .spent Tuesday night with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. It. F. Lantz. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Vernon spent yesterday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Vernon. Mesdames Crownover and Ingerman were at Richmond Tuesday.
CAMBRIDGE CITY, IND. Cambridge City, Ind., Jan. 13. Mrs. Clementine Parker, and daughter, Etta, of Kankakee, 111., are spending some time in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Dinwiddie. Miss Carrie Allen, of Hagerstown, is spending a few days with Dr. and Mrs. J. B. Allen. Dr. Fred Kimmer went to Indianapolis Wednesday afternoon to attend the Indiana Veterinary Association which convenes in that city this week. Master Glen Cooley is visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Brown of New Trenton. The ladies of the Presbyterian Guild met at the home of Mrs. R. C. Leslie, Wednesday afternoon. They have already begun work on a beautiful auilt, to be in readiness for the Lackey sales. Announcement of the birth of a daughter, Marion Elizabeth into the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Guyton, of Evanston, III., has been received by relatives in this place. Mrs. M. W. Brown and her guests, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Showalter and Mrs. Matt Abshire of Honey Creek, spent Wednesday with airs. S. S. Wilson of Dublin. Mrs. John Guyton, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bender and son Cecil, of Cambridge City, Mrs. W. A. Bragg, Mrs. Carrie Johnson and son. Lewis were entertained at dinner the past Sunday by Mrs. George Donhower of Milton, complimentary to her guest, Mrs. Bertha Bender of Brownsville. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. A surprise was given recently on Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Oler and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mercer at their home two and a half miles southeast of Economy, by the Sugar Grove Sunday school class Those present were Misses Blanche Burgess, Hattie Mettert and Irene Burgess of Greensfork, Mr. and Mrs. Omer Oier, Mr. and Mrs. Hobert Durbin. Walter Cain, Charley Bartlett, Earl Conley. Frank Nicholson and Newton Gilmer. A social good time was enjoyed by all and refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cain are the delighted parents of a baby girl which arrived Tuesday morning. It is now in order to say grandpa Haxton and grandpa Cain. The Misses Janette and Margaret Newlin returned to Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon. Deck Haxton will move his family to Richmond some time this month. The revival meeting at Morgan's Chapel is well attended and is growing in interest. Will Conoroe made a trip to Greensfork Tuesday. Hulda Haxton, who has been verysick the past week was reported not so well Tuesday. A gentleman of Richmond was a guest at the Parker house Tuesday night. Prentis Edwards, who is familiar with gun and rod has done a little trapping to fill in space this winter, which netted him $SO. Squire Fraiser and Ray Daugherty were cutting wood Tuesday. Oliver Hiatt has been suffering with sun pain. Miss Blanche Fennimore is spending the day in Richmond. Mrs. C. D. Hunnicutt is back from a week's stay with her mother of Williamsburg. Word has bee nreceived here by Ed Ballenger's relatives who now live in Texas, that he was badly hurt in some kind of accident in Fairview, Texas, which is twelve miles from his home, j and that he was so seriously hurt that I he could not be taken home. , Mrs. Charley Hunnicutt spent Tues-' day in Richmond. Dr. J. B. Clark was called to Wil-1 liamsburg Wednesday morning. Mrs. Ray Marshall and baby are re ported very sick. Meant What It Said. To the Republicans of Wayne County: Pursuant to a call issued by the state chairman, the republicans of Wayne county will meet in their respective wards and townships for the following purposes: 1. For the election of precinct committeemen and member or members of the county central committee. 2. For the election of delegates and alternate delegates to the district convention to be held at Rushville, Tuesday, February 1, 10 lo, for the election of a District Committeeman for the Sixth Congressional district and the transaction of such other business as may properly come before it. 3. For the election of delegates to the convention' of Wayne and Fayette counties for the nomination of a candidate for joint representative in the general assembly. In accordance with the instructions of the republican state committee, the various township meetings will be held at 2:30 o'clock on the afternoon of Friday. January 2S. and the ward meetings in the city of Richmond will be held at 7:30 o'clock on the evening of the same day, Friday, January 28, at the usual places.
