HE BLAMES LABOR FOB HIGH PRICES

President of the Manufacturers' Association Expresses His Views.

HITS CIVIC FEDERATION'

FOR AIDING AND ABETTING "GOMPERS AND HIS GANG" TAKES A LARGE SIZED FALL OUT OF THE UNIONS.

Springfield. Mass.. Jan. 12. Large responsibility lor the higher cost of living was laid by John Kirby, Jr., president of the National Manufacturers' association, upon what he called the "labor trust" in an address before the Employers' association at Springfield. Mr. Kirby further declared that trade unionism aspired to "absolute control over all labor that is hired and paid for by employers," and charged that its efforts to this end were being abetted, although m wittingly, by the National Civic Federation. Mr. Kirby's address was largely a reply to a recent implied attack upon his organization in an article in the National Civic Federation Review. He said in part: "There is general complaint about high prices of the necessities of life, various reasons being assigned for the same, chief among which are the tariff and the capitalistic trusts. Blames Union Principles. "As a matter of fact, the primary cause of the constantly advancing prices of commodities of all kinds lies at the door of the labor trust, a cardinal principle of which is to raise wages aud restrict production, neither of which can fail to diminish the purchasing power of the dollar, and when working together they doubly depreciate its value." Mr. Kirby then recites the formation of the Civic Federation as a national organization by the late Mark Hamia, speaks of its purposes, and ays: "it was sincerely believed by many tlxnX the organization could accomplish wonders in solving the so-called labor problem, and for those thus minded I have nothing but commendation. "It soon developed however, that the affairs "of the organization wrere being managed in the interests of the American Federation of Labor, and Sannml Gompers, its vice president, promptly became its commander in chief, and, with Mitchell and Easley as aids, proceeded to shear and trim the lambs for their snug repose in the bellies of the lions. Picture Riled Kirby. "The work of the organization if conducted, in sincerity and free from alliance with an organization of men who set themselves above the laws of the land would merit popular commendation, and would doubtless accomplish some good in which the National Association of Manufacturers would be glad to co-operate. "But when its official organ presents in group form, as it did in their November number, a photographic picture of 54 of its members, with Gompers and Mitchell, fresh from the Toronto convention, and their anarchistic defiance of our courts still vi

brating through the air, occupying central positions, the former located

'next door but one to President Taft

and the latter touching the 'hem of his garment is not such a spectacle

enough to make honest citizens sit up and think?"

Stops Lameness Much of the chronic lameness in horses is due to neglect. See that your horse is not allowed to go lame. Keep Sloan's Liniment on hand and apply at the first sign of stiffness. It's wonderfully penetrating. goes right to the spot relieves the soreness limbers up the joints and makes the muiclcs elastic and pliant. Here's the Proof. Mr. G. T. Roberts of Resaca, G., R.F.D. No. , Box 43, writes : " I ha used your Liniment on a horse for Sweeney and effected a thorough cure. I also removed a spavin on a mule. This spavin was as large as a guinea egg. In my estimation the best rernedy for lameness and soreness is Sloan's Liniment Mr. H. M. Gibbs, of Lawrence, Kans., R.F.D. No. 3. WTites : " Your Liniment is the best that I have ever used. I had a mare with an abscess n her neck and one 50c. bottle of Sloan's Liniment entirely cured her. I keep it around all the time for galls and small swellings and for everything about the stock." Sloan's Liniment

will kill a spavin, curb or splint, reduce wind puffs and swollen joints, and is a sure and speedy remedy for fistula, sweeney, founder and thrush.
