ment. Although the remainder of the new building will be four stories high, the section embracing the gymnasium will be but two stories high. Needless to say it will be equipped in most modern fashion and with all recommended appliances for the physical development of both boys and girls. The dimensions of the gymnasium are 38 feet wide by 74 feet long. Even Have Forge Shop. On the south side of the first floor will be located the forge shop, the manual training room, machine room, wood working room, tool room and lumber storage room. These departments will be in every respect equipped with the most modern machinery and tools. The girls will be interested particularly in the departments to be located on the north side of the first floor. Here a domestic science room, for experimental, practical and study purposes, and a sewing room will be located. In the domestic science room will be located the kitchen, and the sidewalls faced up with enamel brick half way to the ceiling. At one end of this room will be situated a range, built into the wall and on a Betting of enamel brick. Above the range will be a hood with an exterior flue which will carry off all fumes. In the cen
ter of this room will be a large table.

have a place in which to place her apron, cap and other things. The school will supply the department with all cooking utensils and other needed articles.

pils. Sewing machines, run by electrical power, will be provided. One
section of the room will be partitioned off for a fitting room.
Corridor Arrangements. The corridors in the first floor will
extend around the gymnasium and auditorium. This arrangement is also the
same on the second floor. On the third and fourth floors the corridors will extend the length of the building but the arrangement of the corridors
will be slightly altered from that of
the first and second, floors.
Two large stairways of reinforced
concrete construction, will give access
to the second story. On either side of the balcony, the auditorium, on the
east side of the building, will be two
large study rooms. On this floor will
also be located rooms for the wood turning and mechanical drawing de
partments. The mechanical drawing
room will be specially equipped and In some respects, even elaborately so,
in order that the best and quickest advancement of the pupils may be facilitated.
The principal will have his office on
the second floor in the middle room, off the south corridor. He will have
two rooms, one for public reception, and one for his private use. In the office will be located the telephone central exchange and also the clock system. ' In respect to the telephone sys
tem, it was stated that there will be a telephone in each room, both in the new building and the Garfield building. The clock system of the school will be such that every clock in the building will keep uniform time. Clocks Control Bells. These clocks will be regulated by the master clock In the principal's office. The latter clock will be so regulated, that at the opening and close of each period it will automatically cause every clock in the building to ring a bell. On the third floor, the art gallery will be of most interest to the public. It is located immediately over the auditorium. It is two stories high and practically of the same dimensions as the auditorium. All exterior light will be gained from skylights. This is done in order that a perfect light will always be had on the exhibits. At night the gallery will be lighted by specially arranged incandescent and arc lights. The original plans of the building have been changed so that the "Tortoise Fountain" may be located in the corridor, at the entrance of the gallery. To the north of the gallery will be another large study room. On the opposite corner will be the school library, equipped with modern tables, steel book racks and lighted by electricity. The library will have an entrance into the art gallery. Business Department. To the west of the library, located along the south, wal! of the building, will be the business department, where short hand, book keeping, typewriting and the like, will be taught. On the north side of the third floor Is located the rest room for teachers, pupils and visitors. Two rooms for the draw
ing department complete the arrangement of this side of the building on the third floor. The chemical, botany and physics departments will be located on the
fourth, or top floor. Most unique n ,
arrangement for these departments is that for the study of botany. The botany room will be provided with a conservatory- Plants will be grown here the year round. Even those of the most delicate variety, which require running water, can be cared for. The botany, chemical and physics departments . will be provided with experimental and lecture rooms. Lanterns will be located in each of the rooms in order that the instructors may the more readily emphasize their lectures and demonstrations.
