Is the principle the Palladium endeavored to carry out in the advertisements reproduced below. These advertisements were inserted in Printer's Ink, each occupying a full page. Printerss Ink is the trade journal for advertisers, having the largest circulation of any like periodical in the country. It is devoted 'exclusively to newspaper and magazine advertising. It circulates among the leading general advertisers of the country. Therefore all the men placing large amounts of national advertising read every issue to make intelligent appropriations. In placing this advertising th Palladium was put to considerable expense, but in advertising it always pays to use the best medium, and expense should be a secondary consideration. The Palladium counts this expenditure a good investment, and the increase in foreign advertising proves its conviction. These advertisements are reproduced so that the Richmond merchants may know the

various qalities of the Palladium which have not been called to their attention.

TALK FIRST

We apeak only of the present and the future. One could talk all day on what Richmond has done how it was founded way back in 1806 and of the prominent part it has taken in forming the history of Indiana of how it has grown steadily, without a boom or panic until it reached its present high ' standing; among: the towns of the middle west. But you are an advertiser and you are busy so are we. Richmond of today is a thriving; manufacturing: city, situated in a rich agricultural community. Population ' over 23,000 and pulling; trade from a . population of over 60,000. Sixty-eight miles from Indianapolis, 75 miles from Cincinnati, 40 miles from Dayton, O., . and; 45 miles from Muncie it is the natural trading center of the rich White Water Valley drawing trade from 30 miles around. Richmond is a city of homes. It ranks far above the average in this respect. Nearly $900 per capita is the way the money is divided and fairly even too. Our financial institutions have increased their resources 205 percent In the last ten years and they transacted business as usual during the recent panic. They paid all checks in currency and did not limit the amount of withdrawals. ' The policy of the Palladium and SunTelegram is to boost, and the whole community is boosting as never before. Almost everyone is a live wire in Richmond and vicinity, down in the Old Hoosier State. The Palladium and Sun-Telegram Is getting business for Richmond merchants. It can get business for vou. Fall Festival,

Mchiroond, End., October 6-7-8

TALK THIRD

Richmond holds its second annual Fall Festival in October. This particular form of boosting Richmond is unique, no other city has anything like it. Embodying all the good points of the County Fair. Street air. Carnival and Uardi Gras it pleases all and offends none. Last year over 30.000 people visited Richmond during the Fall Festival, all went home pleased and with a clearer idea of the magnitude of Richmond's industries and of the advantages of trading with Richmond merchants. This year fully 60.000 people are expected. Some of the features are: A horse, stock, poultry, dog. fruit and grain show. An Illuminated Automobile Parade. A mammoth Industrial Parade representing; all the various business interests of Richmond. A big Producers Parade. A Fantastic Parade and Mardi Gras Feature. An Airship Flight. A magnificent display of Fire Works each night. A Grand Ball. A banquet, given to the newspaper editors of this vicinity, at which Governor Marshall and Senator Beveridge will be present. Beautiful decorations. Plenty of music and numerous other features. That's the way we do things in Richmond, "The Panic Proof City." You as an advertiser will appreciate the value of such advertising: to the town. The people all around Richmond feel friendly towards It. They are interested in it and buy their supplies of Richmond merchants. Being- interested in the city and doing their trading here they naturally read its newspapers, not only for the news but for the store news. Richmond Merchants' have found the Palladium and Sun-Telegram to be the most profitable medium in which to do their advertising. During last year the Palladium carried 11.9S0 Inches more local advertising than any other Richmond paper and 4.982 inches more classified advertising than any competitor. These figures peak for themselves, the local display for merchant and the classified for the readers of the newspaper. During 1908 the Palladium carried 125 per cent, more classified lines than its nearest competitor; for the first 5 months of 1909 it carried 205 per cent, more and during the month of May M2 per cent. more. You will notice the steady gain showing the Increasing popularity of the Palladium and Sun-Telegram

The Palladium also wishes to impress the fact that money spent in boosting the town eventually comes back to the spender. As an example of how the Richmond business men can help the town, we make the following suggestion : If every business letter sent out of Richmond contained only two lines boosting the town, in the course of time Richmond would be nationally considered as a wide awake and prosperous city. Such phrases as: "Business is booming in 'The Panic Proof City" or, "At the present writing .. there is over $1,000,000 worth of building toeing done in Richmond;' "Business is good," would help more than a little. If you coined a new phrase for each week and instructed your stenographer to use it in all letters during that week, it would be very little trouble and would undoubtedly benefit the city and your business beyond expectation.
