Burglars Were Quite Particular

Robbers in a Chicago Residence Scorn Plated Ware and Imitation Diamond, After Trying Acid on Them.

Chicago, Nov. 27. Up to date burglars, equipped with testing acids scales and other necessities for the testing the genuineness of silverware and Jewelry, broke Into the residence of John M. Schaack. 6121 Kenmore avenue, and after carefully testing every piece of silverware and jewelry in the house, carried away $ooo worth.

Nothing except jewelry or silverware was disturbed. The china closet was visited, and plates that did not meet the requirements of the invaders were passed by and others examined. Only full or half dozen sets were taken. Cut glass came in for an examination. Imitation glass that has been sold to fool the ordinary person was not even taken out of the glass closet, but the genuine article disappeared. Little attention was paid to the kitchen. A small sterling silver clock that had been left in it was carried away, but nothing else was disturbed. A cup, taken from the pantry, was found in the dining room with traces

and other liquors remained untouched. A cut glass decanter was emptied of its contents and disappeared along with champagne glasses, claret glasses and a cut glass pitcher of the latest design. Toilet articles evidently met the especial fancy of the burglars, for nothing was left in that line. Silver ash trays and cigar holders went with the cut glass and silver ware. A plated sterling silver picture frame met with the disapproval of the experts, and. after being rubbed and tested was cast aside. A small diamond with a flaw in it and an imitation diamond failed to pass the rigid examination. Diamonds

and gold rings that passed the tests were stolen. This was only one of a series of robberies that have occurred on the North Side within the past two weeks, but this is said by the police to be the most expert, clean cut and careful Job that has been done in years.
