PLANS A QUIZ FOR WIFE
Rev. W. EX McCarty, a former local pastor, who recently has been having his marital troubles, la now beginning to score. A Portland, Ind., account says: "It will soon be the Rev. W. E. Mccarty's turn to smile, and listen, but say nothing. Several weeks ago, after three attempts, he was compelled to appear at the office of Emerson B. Mc Griff in this city, where, under a cross-fire of questions propounded by W. If. Eichhorn, Judge E. C. Vaughn and Emerson E. McGriff, attorneys for his former wife, Mrs. E. T. Williams, he was compelled to furnish such Information as they desired for use in preparing their answer to his complaint filed in the circuit court several months ago, for a settlement according to the terms of the ante-nuptial contract, made before their marriage. At that time the Rev. Mr. McCarty was put through a grilling examination lasting more than two hours. It was announced Tuesday morning that as soon as the Rev. Mr. Mc
Carty returns "from Shoals, Martin county, where at present he is engaged in a revival meeting, a similar summons will be issued for Mrs. Williams and a few questions asked her, the answers to which is expected to throw considerable light on the plaintiffs side of the case. The case will hardly be tried at this term of court."

BEAUTIFUL WOMEN Bad Stomach Cause Unsightly Complexions. L. H. Fihe Haa a Remedy. ' Bad stomachs mean bad blood; bad blood means sallow, unattractive skin. Why? The stomach in a healthy condition, separates the nutritious matter from the food and gives it to the blood to supply tho entire body with nourishment. If the stomach is not in a healthy condition it does not separate from the food the nutritious matter and it passes off with the waste. Thus the blood is impoverished and has not sufficient nourishment to supply the muscles, skin and body generally. , If you have belching of gas, distress after eating, nausea, biliousness, nervousness or foul breath, then your stomach is wrong and you want the best prescription tor stomach troubles the world has ever known.
You want Ml-o-na tablets, the great stomach remedy which L. H. lhe

AS-
Playing "hookey" from school is not
as popular among the small boys of the city as it used to be. Perhaps the discontinuance of this practice is due
in a large measure to the strenuous
efforts of George Bishop, truant officer, who keeps a vigilant watch on thn
youngsters, and any who are caught remaining away from school without the consent of their parents or guar
dians, are snatched up by the officer and are very apt to get into serious trouble.
Mr. Bishop keeps in close communi
cation with the teachers and parents
of children who make a habit of stay
ing out of school on the slightest pretext.
In many cases the original excuses
invented by the youngsters on the impulse of the moment, when the big arm
of the law swoops down on them and they are confronted with the exasper
ating and nerve jolting question.
Young man, why are you not In
school?" often prove very amusing.
The youngsters are immediately seized
with a most alarming illness, but Officer Bishop is wise to all such "gags." One difficulty encountered by the tru
ant officer is the refusal of many parents to reveal the names of their children who are believed to be playing "hookey." Under this handicap the matter is investigated to a great disadvantage.
Arrangements for the fitting celebration of World's Temperance Sunday, November 28, will probably be made at the meeting of the Ministerial Association Monday. The officials of the State Anti-Saloon league have promised local ministers that speakers would be furnished for all churches.
the pulpits of which will be offered for observance of the day. Sunday afternoon services will be held at one of the churches in all probability. At this meeting many prominent workers in the Anti-Saloon League will be present, including thf Rev. Shumaker, state superintendent, the Rev. Mr. Barney, Mr. Minter, attorney for the league, and others. It is expected that on this day the first organized efforts to declare this
county dry by county local option in
1011, will be taken. This, however, the ministers will not state positively, although it is admitted that there will be another election, if a favorable re
sult appears possible.
