MAKE MERRY WHEN THE FACTORY IS FINISHED WORK OAV AND NIGHT SHIFTS. Within a month, the members of the South Side Improvement association and the officers of the National Auto matic Tool Works expect that the fac tory building will be completed. At the time of its completion arrange ment will be made for having a bi celebration the following Sunday, at which time it will be formally dedtcat ed. It was announced at the directors meeting of the association last evening that in order to advance the worK as last as possible, that a day and night shift of men would be employed on the building. At the present tlm the foundation has not been entirely laid. The building Is to be concrete and rapid progress will be made as soon as the foundation is completed and the weather continues fair. The association has agreed to pay the C. C. & I railroad company 7 for the Installation of the switch for the tool works. Hans Koll and John Knollenberg were appointed as a committee to visit the traction company officials and try to Induce them to extend the car line Into the Beallvlew addition. BREWERS JOLTED QUITE BADLY III STATE ELECTIONS (Continued From Page One.) won, for, they say, they fully expected the wets to carry many of these places. They say that the liberal, or wet, sentiment of the state is confin ed almost wholly to the cities. The farmers and the residents of the coun- , v.. J-,, . V. . . . . j uiu 'tin, mej wtj. are nearly soul In favor of the abolition of saloons, and that when a local option election is held in any county it is the country that out votes the city and makes the whole county dry. Therefore, they say the mere fact that the wets win in a city does not mean that it indicates a change in sentiment on the part of the whole people on the saloon question. To Control Legislature. And so it is with the republicans who read the news from tha city elections. They declare that the results In many places were brought about by local conditions that will not count for anything when it comes to electing members of the next legislature. At that time the Issues will be state Is sues and the fight will be made along entirely different lines by both parties. Therefore, the republicans say, they are just as certain as ever that they will control the next legislature and that they will be able to re-elect Senator Beveridge. no mrncii uh iwo purposes in view in getting into this campaign as strongly as they did. One was to carry elections right and life, including Indianapolis, and gain control of the city administration machinery. This would enable them to build up a machine that would be a heavy factor In carrying the next state election. If they were able to do this, and to gain control of the democratic state organization, they would be ble to elect enough wet democrats to the legislature to repeal the local option law and to elect a democratic successor to Senator Beveridge. Honors Fairly Even. While the honors are fairly even between the wets and the dry as a result of the city elections, there is less hope among the wets today of their being able to carry out this program than there was a week ago. The recent campaign throughout the state has had another result thai, la ef importance to the republicans. It has brought together the Beveridge and the anti-Beveridge f.-ations of the party on a common ground as a united party fighting for a party object, and even If nothing else had been acftroraplished this alone would have been enough to inspire new confidence in the party. The leaders of both sides have gotten together because they have realized the seriousness of the situation before the city elections aroused them. They mean to elect the next '.egislature. . FIND TOMBS UNSAFE (American News Service) New York. Nor. 4. All legal business in the two million dollar criminal court building, known as the Tombs was called to a standstill today because it is unsafe, and the board of survey reported the finding of a fissure in one of the supporting walls. All traffic, except the subway was prohibited passing the building. " Needed at Once. "Say, old chap. I want to introduce yon to a friend of mine. He's temporarily embarrassed and wants to borrow $5. Can yon accommodate him?" "Wee-11, what does be want It for?' "Ha owes tt to ma." Cleveland Leader.
