B. parsonage Wednesday evening. The occasion was the opening of the mite boxes. Aside from the members of the society, Mesdames Mary Walker, SVL L Parkins, Emma Ferguson, Vene Beeson, Misses Carrie Walker, Lola Ward and Florence Newman, were invited to be present. Prof. Carlo Mora, professor of music in Sutherland Coll Jege, Sutherland, Florida, had been invited to render some of his fine compositions" in music. Mrs . Elizabeth Price and Mrs. Charles Price, from Indianapolis, are visiting Mrs. Ann Hoshour. John Posep Jones, little son of Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Jones, is sick! It is thought that he may have scarlet fever. Mrs. Ed Hunt and Mrs. Clarence Clay spent yesterday with Mts. Chas. Breese at Cambridge City. Mr. and Mrs. Jacoz Riller of Klone, Iowa, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Kerber. Mr. Kerber accompanied them to Indianapolis yesterday. Brumfield has returned from Petoskey. She reports Mr. Brumfield improving. Earl Atkinson writes from Pattereon, New Jersey, that his company, the "Capt. Clay of Mlssour." opened at that city Monday evening and under date of September 7th, he states that they have had packed houses. Mrs. David Nugent returned yesterday from Indianapolis. Miss Emma Gingrich was here from Connersville yesterday- to make arrangements to move to Milton. Mrs. Thou. Delegates from all Unions of the county will be present. Miss Ellen Stone will deliv er the convention address in the ev ening. The latter served two terms as sheriff of Preble county, and has many friends here who regret to hear of his illness. Dr. Charles W. Conley has sold his training and speed barn to H. B. Ross, who resides near New Paris. Miss Edna Parker, daughter of John H. Parker, has gone to Westtown, Pa-, to enter college. Mr. Parker accompanied her as far as Wheeling, W. Va. Harry Thompson, who has been located in Columbus for some time, has accepted a position at Zanesville and will shortly leave for that city. Russell P. Finney of Jeffersonville, Ind., has been a guest of Eaton friends for the past several days. Mr. Finney was a resident of Eaton before the civil war, and this is his first visit here' since 1863. Mr. Finney holds a position in the United States Quartermaster's department. The Preble County Woman's Christian Temperance Union have planned to establish headquarters for members of this organization during the week of the county fair and will have a tent on the grounds. Members are invited to visit the tent and register. Miss Edith Fudge has gone to Moorehead, Minn., where she will attend college the coming term. Russell McNeal is spending a few days with relatives in Chicago. William O'Keefe will leave Saturday for Spokane, Wash., where he will reside Indefinitely. Mrs. J. C. Ryder has returned after a few days' visit with her parents at Greenville. The Rev. M. I. Comfort, who was assigned to the local charge at the recent U. B. conference, will preach his first sermon here next Sunday., Rev. Comfort is transferred to Eaton from Hamilton, and comes with the highest recommendations.
