COMMUNICATION CUT OFF, ANO PEOPLE ARE MISSING WITHOUT THERE BEING A TRACE OF WHAT BECAME OF THEM. (American Newt Service) Monterey, Mex.. Sept. 9. Village priests who arrived here today, told of the destruction by the recent floods in outlying districts. The priest of Arramberi has informed Archbishop Lenares that Arram beri was destroyed and that his peo ple are wandering over the county la search of food. The story brought by the priest of La Ascension is evtn more appalling. He says this town and its population of 2.000 souls have entirely disappear ed. He does not know where the people are. Another priest from Allende says that that place has also disappeared with large loss of life and that the neighboring fields have been converted Into lakes. Bustaments and La Escondlda have been added to the list of destroyed villages. The Rio Grands river Is overflow ing its banks at Matamoras. causinc . much damage to that city. No details of the damages or loss of life are known. Communication by rail with Matamorss has been destroyed since August 28, and little Information 1m obtainable from there. (American Nows 8rrteV Mexico City, Sept. 9. Word been received here that the destruction of Soto la Marina, a town in tho state of Tarn auli pas, was so complete that the whole place has entirely disappeared with the exception of fewchurch towers that project from tha surface of a veritable lake. No one has been able to get closer than a league from whero tha ton once stood. V WILLING TO COME WITH HIS KIIIP Aviator Bumbaugh Submits His Proposition to Fall Festival Committee. IS LIKELY TO BE SECURED fsaaaaaaaaassi Ta " SUCCESSFUL FEATURE NOW AT STATE FAIR, IT IS THOUGHT WOULD DRAW GREAT CROWDS TO THIS CITY. The executive committee of tho Fall Festival is negotiating at tha present time with several airship ownera to have flights made over the city during the Fall Festival. E. H. Harris, secretary, and Charles M. Morgan, chairman of the amusement committee, visited at the state fair yesterday and received a proposition from O. L. Bumbaugh to brln' his airship here for the three days. Mr. Bumbaugh is one of the beat known s viators In the country, having made trips in various balloon races and at the present time he Is making quite a sensation at the state fair. He Is making from two to four flights dally, every one of which is successful In every wsy and Is by far the best feature of the state fair and a drawing card that can not be surpassed. Mr. Bumbaugh wants to come to Rich--mond, although he has a proposition from St. Louis to make flights there at the same time as the Fall Festival. If he can close negotiations with the Fall Festival committee he Is willing to cancel that date and come here. Richmond would have the honor of being one of the few cities in the state that has had an airship. On South Fifteenth Street. """" The probabilities ere that the airship tent would be placed on tha South Fifteenth street commons and he would make two flights a day. circling over the city. The airship would also be on exhibition in the tent both during the day and at night The Fall Festival committee also has a proposition from Cromwell Dixon, the juvenile aviator at Columbus. Ohio. The probabilities are that if they close with either one of these, it will be with Mr. Bumbaugh. Just at this time, wfien every one is Interested in airships and the papers are full of the successful flights made by the various aeronauts, the feature would undoubtedly be a great attraction. It would undoubtedly attract people for miles around. The ease with which Mr. Bumbaugh handles his airship Is truly remarkable. He has perfect control and to see him flying; la mldr is a thrilling sight. Teacher How many of my scholars csn remember the longest sentence they ever read? Billy Please, ma'am. I can. Teacher What!
