BODY BECAME LIFELESS CHILD'S MOTHER WAS AT WORK BUT WAS ALARMED BY THE FRANTIC SCREAMS OF BABY'S LITTLE BROTHER. As a result of drinking a considerable amount of gasoline, Silva Milton, the sixteen-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Milton, 208 South Ninth street, was rendered unconscious yesterday afternoon about 3:30 o'clock. The child's life was despaired of several hours, but she has since recovered and this morning the attending physician pronounced the child entirely out of danger. Mrs. Milton, the child's mother, was ironing and had stopped to fill her gasoline Iron. She had filled a cup with the liquid and upon putting the can away, her five-year-old son. Ishmael, pulled the cup to the edge of the table. The little girl, who is just beginning to walk, noticed the cup and pulled it from the table. She drank a very small amount, probably not more than two or three tablespoonfuls. but considered a large portion for one so smalL The child's body became stiff and lifeless almost immediately and the cries of her little brotBer summoned the mother. A physician was called Immediately and after working for some time was able to restore consciouaness. However the child vomited s great deal snd had a hemorrhage from which it lost much blood. COMPLAIN OVER QUALITY ..Oats thrashing Is pretty generally Completed throughout the county and already a fair estimate of the yield can be made, conservative figures put ting it at about 20 bushels per acre. When the crop was being cut, the straw foretold a much heavier crop but it was found that the beads were not properly filled out snd many grains were missing. From nearly all parts of the county complaints are being received as to the quality of the oats. Many of the grains are light and chaffy, being improperly developed and of little value commercially. A great amount of oats has already been placed on the market snd the elevators are dally crowded with farmers unloading their grain. Indications are that the present price will continue for a time at least. COUNCIL TAKES ACTION. Cambridge City, Ind.. Aug. 2d.
