Less than half the members of thf United States senate and bouse of representatives are native born in the states which tbey represent Nothing could mre clearly show the alert activities of the American people aof. that constant intermingling of the in habitants of the several states which adds so muoh to the cohesive unity o:T the nation. The boy who goes to a distant state often accomplishes more than the one who goes straight 00 in the footprints of his father in the homo village. Even Daniel Webster was not born in the old Bay State, whose influence and dignity he so wel. sustained asd whose people mourned him so sincerely when his great lift closed. This wandering from state to statehas resulted lu the organizing in New York city of many state societies which aim to gather together the nn live of their respective states annually to rerivethe pleasant memories of the eld home days, with their thou send clinging ties. What would happen if the Ameii can people should ceae to wander about the country? Is a question often asked. It is said that an eastern man never amounts to anything until bgoes west and that a western mat has to come east ia order to attain hi.fall stature mentally. The northern man Is advised to go south to learn gentle courtesy and chivalric bearing, the southerner to go north to add more Iron to his blood. There can lx no doubt that this constant evolution has encouraged tb birth of new Ideas, just as the whirling of the kiaetoscope developed a toy Into our present wonderful moving pictures, which gives us glimpses of life in motion all over the world Joe Mitchell Chappie In National Magazine. A Florida Sport With an Element of Uncertainty In It. "Hunting alligators at night with a ballseye lantern and shotgun is tame sport compared with what Is called a gator hunt in Florida." said an eld Florldlan who is visiting New York. "I mean tbe feat of capturing an alligator alive and then towing tbe fellow to high ground through mud and water from what is called In Florida n gator hole. "The gator fishermen first find the hole, which is indicated by an opening In tbe surrounding grass in the midst of a dense growth of vegetation, where the ground Is worn smooth by the alligator in his pulls in and out. Sometimes these gator boles are in tbe nature of a cave in tbe bank of a stream and may be fifteen or twenty feet deep, and If so it is not an easy matter to get the animal out "The fisher Is supplied with a long pole with a metal hook on the end. He takes a strong rope and throws It about tbe entrance of the bole. Then the fisher rams with the hooked pole down the den and waits and listens. If he finds a gator In the bole he teases the beast by poking him until the gator in a rage finally grabs tbe hooked pole and Is pulled from tbe den. It is with uncertainty that he Is dragged forth, for It Is not known whether tbe catch Is large or smalL Tbe fisher does not know whether to get into shape to run or to fight Out tbe gator comes, bellowing and roaring mad. . "After the gator is dragged to the surface he In bis rsge turns and rolls and finally twists himself up in the rope or noose that has been previously prepared. With tbe "assistance of the others in the party the gator's legs and mouth are tied and the gator is a prisoner. "Tbe gator is for the most part caught In marshes where the ground Is soft and slushy and too wet for either horse or wagon to enter. Tbe fishers are compelled to carry their catch to higher ground, there to be loaded Into the waiting wagon, and the hunt Is ended." New York Sun. UNCONSCIOUS WORRY. Bern of the Habit of Taking Things Too Seriously. A great many people worry unconsciously, says O. S. Marden in Success Magazine. They don't understand why they are so tired In the morning, why their sleep was so disturbed and troubled. This mental disturbance Is often caused by the habit of tsklng things too seriously, carrying too great a weight of responsibility. Everywhere we see people who take life too seriously. Most of us are like the motorman who not only starts and stops the car and tries to keep from running over people, but also feels tremendous anxiety and responsibility about the motive power. One of the most helpful lessons life can Impart is that which shows us bow to do our work ss well as It can be done and then let principle take care of tbe result How often have we been amazed to find things come out much better than we anticipated; to find that the great uaseea sewer that governs out lives through a wilderness of trial and tribulation into tbe epea has guided our life ship through the fogs ot. difficulties .and 1 of somw.

The remonstrators for brick asked the board of works to consider the matter under the ten day limit provided and another hearing was set at a time later In the week.
