A CASE OF DEMAND EXCEEDING SUPPLY
Not Many "Fop Rent" Ads in The Local Papers These Days. MORE DWELLINGS NEEDED IT 18 REGARDED STRANGE THAT WITH SUCH DEMAND FOR SMALL HOU8E8, MORE OF THEM ARE NOT BUILT. The demand for bouses to rent Is so great in Richmond that the classified ad columns now show only a few of this class. This is an indication of the prosperous times the" city has experienced. When nearly every other city in the country was under a depression because of the strenuous times in finance, Richmond shops kept plugging ahead. They ran on short time or with reduced forces, but only a very Email number shut down entirely. As a consequence families came into the city from other places where work was less and wages poorer. These families took up the supply of rented property, . What City Needs. With such a great demand for property and families willing to pay good jtM nlo 1 la efranirA 1l4kwA le Tint lYIlfO building of the smalt house. The five room house is the kind that is needed most in Richmond. There has been a large amount of building in this city this spring but it is not the kind that will relieve the situation. Large houses are being put up and what few are for rental purposes will demand a rent too high for the average wage earner to afford. The bouse that rents for $12 or $15 a month is very scarce in Richmond. 'There are houses of this class but the most of them are of six or seven rooms and. in most( cases, not modern. Failure to supply the demand for small houses has benefitted the proerty or renters who let out rooms. There is a remarkably large number of rooms being rented in this city and it nearly all is due to the lack) of small houses. Renters prefer this method of living to occupying a house with more rooms than are needed and paying a big rent for it. The condition is one that interests the real estate men and demands relief by more small houses being constructed for rental purposes. If people with symptoms of kidney or bladder trouble could realize their danger they would without loss of time commence taking Foley's : Kidney Remedy. This great remedy stops the pain and the Irregularities, strengthens and builds up these organs and there is no danger of Bright 8" disease or other serious disorder. Do not disregard the early symptoms. A. G. Luken & Co. In chapter 1: "She dropped her eyea." In chapter 2: "He caught her, eye."
