Cards as follows were Issued today; Mrs. Acnes M. Thomas . Announces the marriage of her . daughter , . Laura Alice to Adolph Lambert Wortmann June sixteenth, nineteen hundred and nine. At home at Squirrel Road After July 15, Dayton, Ohio. The wedding was celebrated yesterday at high noon at the home of the bride on 8outh Twelfth street. The house was beautifully, decorated with sweet peas and ferns, the motif pink and white being carried out in all the embellishments. The bride was attractively attired in a white gown. There were no attendants. Rev. H. R. Keates of the South Eighth Street Friends church performed the ceremony before a company of relatives and Intimate friends. Mr. and - Mrs. Wortmann left for a short wedding trip. The bride's going away gown was a navy blue suit with hat - and gloves to correspond. The only out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wortmann of Dayton, Ohio. Mrs. Wortmann is well known here. Her many friends extend heartiest congratulations. Mrs. P. W. Smith gave an informal card company Tuesday afternoon at her home on East Main street, in honor of Mrs. C. A. Dugan and Mrs. T. T. Darwin of Decatur, Ind., and Mrs. H.

The wedding will be celebrated Saturday morning July fourteenth in St. Mary's church. 8 Miss - Lulu Moorman entertained very informally Wednesday afternoon at her home on the National Road, west. The affair was given for Miss Moorman's former Earlham classmates, who were in the citv to attend the banquet and commencement exercises. The afternoon was spent socially. Luncheon was served. The out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Macy Cowgill of Terre Haute, Ind.; Prof. F. B. Heckman of New York City; Prof, and Mrs. George Moore, Kokomo, Ind.; Dr. and Mrs. Caswell Graves of Baltimore, Md. ; Miss White of Knightstown, Ind. The town guests were Miss Caroline Carpenter. Mrs. Lewis C. King and Miss Laura Gano. 3t Mr. and Mrs. Macy Cowgill of Terre Haute have returned home after a few days visit with Mr. and Mrs. Webster Parry of North Ninth street Mr. and Mrs. Cowgill were in the city to attend the commencement festivities at Earlham college. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse A. .Wiechman have gone to Chicago for a few weeks visit. They will return home by the

CLUB NOTES

Members of tho Woman's Relief Corps are meeting this afternoon in the new room at the court house. t 6 Miss Josephine Catcs is entertaining members of a' bridge club. The Mothers league of Whitewater school will meet in the Starr park on Friday afternoon at one-thirty o'clock to attend the art exhibit in a body. All members are requested - to be prompt as it is desired, the league be at tho building at two o'clock. The Lutheran Home circle of the St. Paul's Lutheran church will meet on Friday afternoon in the chapel of the churcn. All members are invited to be present. The Good Cheer club met yesterday afternoon with Mrs. Cornelius Miles at her home on the Mlddleboro pike. Music and social conversation were features of the afternoon. Mrs. William Thomas gave a reading. Mrs. Harold, Mrs. Kuhlman and Mrs. Raper were guests for the afternoon. Refreshments were served. Mrs. Mary Landis entertains the club in two weeks. Mrs. May Carman will be hostess for a meeting of the Mary W. Hill Wck man's Christian Temperance union Friday afternoon at her home 1210 Hunt street. All arc invited to attend this session.

Thomas J. Study, the democratic city attorney in an address before the Jefferson club la6t evening cast his foresight four years hence and predicted success for the democratic party. Mr. Study claims the people are much dissatisfied with the way the republican administration Is handling the tariff cuestion. Other members of the club alo made short talks. The question of ' the first annua! banquet to be given June 29 at the L O. .O. F. hall was discussed. .
