WHITE ELEPHMIT ABE THESE SUITS
A Notable Series Is Soon to Be Tried in Orange County, Indiana. APPEARS AN ENDLESS TASK
18 OUTGROWTH OF RAID MADE ON GAMBLING JOINT AT THE FRENCH LICK SPRINGS HARD TO GET A JURY.
Indianapolis. June 10. On June 22 a notable series of law suits will be placed on trial In Orange county, a series that the state officials find Is a white elephant on their hands. ' During the Hanly administration Hanly made a raid on the gambling places at French Lick and one of the results was the filing of sixty-three indictments aaginst Thomas Deery and the siezure of many pieces of gambling furniture and paraphernalia. All of this apparatus has been in storage 'at Paoll ever since and the affidavits have all this time been hanging over Deery. They are all before a justice of the peace. White Will Assist Deputy Attorney General White Is going to Paoli to assist in the prose- ' cutions under these affidavits, and he

RESTORATIVE TREATMENT FOR NERVOUS MEN
Coming from a source of unquestioned authority on the ailments of men it . is presumed to be infallible, while the profession generally endorse the ingredient and prescribe them in many different forma of various diseases. The following formula Is highly efficient in quickly restoring In nervous exhaustion, melancholia, anxiety, timidity in : venturing, dissiness, heart palpitation, trembling limbs, insomnia, thinness, cold extremities, tired-all-in feeling and general inability to do those natural and rational acts upon which depends - a man's success and happiness in social and everyday life... ' The Instructions for mixing at home secretly so that no em- . harrassment may be felt, are as follows: First get three ounces of syrup sarsaparilla compound and one ounce compound fluid balmwort; mix and let stand two hours. Then add one ounce compound essence cardlol and one ounce tincture cadomene compound (not cardamom ). and mix all together. The directions are to take one teaspoonful after each meal and one when retiring, until bounding health and full strength are restored. Kven a few weeks will witness most wonderful results. Astonlshtng nervous force and equilibrium follow the treatment, no matter how serious the case. This contains no opiates whatever and may also be used by women who suffer with their nerves with absolute certainty of prompt and lasting bttefits.

dreads the job because It will be almost an endlesB one. Whether Governor Hanly had it done that way or not, each affidavit is based on the possession by Deery of one certain article. For Instance one affidavit charges him with having in his possession a certain slot machine. Another charges a certain faro table. Another charges some other article, and so on throughout the entire sixty-three. Now, before a piece of gambling apparatus may be destroyed by the officers the person in whose possession it was found must be found guilty by a court or jury. Tedious Proposition. It is pointed out that in this case there must be a separate trial on each charge. Therefore, if Deery is convicted on onevaffidavit the constable may take out and destroy a certain table. If convicted on another affidavit he may destroy a certain slot machine, and so on. This will be a tedious proposition. But the main trouble will be with obtaining juries to try the cases. It is fully expected that Deery will demand a jury, in each case. It will be necessary for the constable to go out in Orange county and rake the hills with a fine tooth comb to get a jury for one case. The entire xsixty-three cases will require 756 jurors, and it is safe to say" that there will not ' be found 756 men In Orange county who are eligible to serve on a Jury in the gambling cases. Nearly every man in the county has made up his mind one way or the other on the subject of French Lick gambling, and it is said that most of the men of Orange county are not much opposed to it. They say gambling in the valley brings monied people to the health resorts and that they leave their money there, thus benefiting the people who live in Orange county.

As Result of the Heavy Rains, . North D Street Is an Ocean of Mud. -
NOT PROPERLY CARED FOR
As the result of the continued heavy rains. North D street Is In an' unusually ; bad condition. This morning it was almost impossible for bicyclists to ride on the thoroughfare from the Doran bridge to Fort Wayne Ave. They were forced to ride on the grass between the sidewalk and curb. The street car rails were covered with mud. One of the worst places in the city's streets of the many-due to the street car tracks is at the west end of the Doran bridge on Richmond Ave. At this point the mud and water entirely cover the rails. The south ide of the street has been repaired with cinders and the mud is of a black, sticky kind. The street car company is supposed to take care of the streets between and adjacent to its rails. Between the bridge and West First street on Richmond Ave. is an abandoned switch of ts company. Tie water stands be
tween the rails, and the rains have beaten all the gravel out. Weeds are growing up and unless removed within a few days will cover the tracks. Although it has been weeks since the street car company- damaged Main street between Fourth and the bridga, no repairs have been made. Neither have the banks along the line of the company through Glen Miller park been covered with sod, as it was understood they would be.

SSIHEY West Richmond Improvement Association Has Peculiar Affliction.
MAY PURCHASE PICTURES
Members of the West Richmond Improvement Association are planning on some way to get rid of the money In their treasury yhich has been accumulating for several months and has now reached a good sized sum. No individual need apply, however. It is probable that the funds of the association will be turned over to the public schools and used for the purpose of purchasing pictures, especially for the Baxter school, which is the one the 'children of ; the members of the association attend. - The association also holds Its meetings in this building, and can thus beautify its club rooms. If such a course Is pursued,' the pictures purchased will become- a part of the Richmond schools and annually be included in the exhibit of the art association, to be held in the art gallery of the new high school building, beginning next year.7' ' j
