After forty-seven years as a missionary in India, the Rev. T. S. Johnson

at one time pastor of the old Pearl

Street M. E.. now the First M. E.

church, has returned to this county.

He is a native Wavne countian but the large part of his life has been spent . in the interest of the gospel in

foreign lands. At present he is visit

ing his sister. Mrs. Alpheus Cook, of near Williamsburg. He expects to go

to Iowa to make his future home with

a son.

The Rev. Mr. Johnson will be re

membered by the older members of

the Fifth Street church and other

Methodists. His experience in the mission work and the amount of time he has devoted to it Qualify him to

peak authoritatively of the progress

being made. He will come to this city from Williamsburg tomorrow and be the guest of the Rev. and Mrs. Nelson

of Grace church. He will deliver a

sermon at Grace church Sunday morning, and at the First M. E. church Sunday night. He will be given a reception at that church Monday night.

OIL BEING USED TO PREVEBT DUST Neighboring Towns Set Richmond a Good Example.

Oil is being used generously on the

streets In neighboring towns as a dust

preventive. At Knightstown, Green

field and New Castle, the experiment has been found successful. It was

tried in Richmond a few years ago, but failed to develop the ' results anticipated because of weather conditions that followed the application of the oil. The test was made on the National roadtand South Fourth street. It rained incessantly for two days following the application of the oil and as the result washed the oil off. It has proved a success generally and may be tried again in this city.

AWFULLY NAUGHTY Broke Up Henry County Sunday School Meeting.

The Henry county Sunday school convention that was to have opened at Lewisville, Wednesday night was drowned out At the time set for the

meeting the cloudburst was deluging the town and it was impossible for delegates and others to make their way to the church. It rained so hard that the janitor who had opened the church and a few early arrivals were the only ones able to get there. The convention took up its work yesterday and was very successful.
