SECOND DEGREE MURDER CHARGED IN AFFIDAVIT, BUT GRAND JURY MUST DETERMINE CHARGE UPON WHICH TRIAL WILL BE BASED. Joel Railsback, slayer of Alexander and Raymond Meek, was brought into city court this morning to answer to an affidavit charging murder in the second degree. His counsel appeared and waived preliminary examination and preliminary arraignment. The city court has no jurisdiction in a murder case, but some charge had to be placed to enable the authorities to retain the prisoner ia jail. Railsback is not admitted to bond. The laws of Indiana do rot provide for such a move unless tiie court hears part of the evidence and doubts the guilt of the recused. The affidavit charges second degree murder, or that the crime was committed without premeditation. The grand jury will return the indictment on which the trial will be based and the affidavit will have nothing to .do with, it. It is probable it will be at least two weeks before any important court action, transpires. SALE LOTS Realty Company Begins Operations at Beailview This Afternoon. . In this locality wheat is selling for K1.46 per bushel and over at Toledo, Ohio, the market quotation is $1.50. But it was different in 1S29. In October of that year wheat sold for 40 cents per bushel. Other food stuffs sold at correspondingly low figures.
