The. sturdy old Scotchman must be eunuse&at the-cecent "discoveries" that oatmeal is the best food in the world. ! Oar scientific men have been" making experiments - which prove that Americans eat too much fat and grease and not enough cereals. The Scotchmen say: Took at our -nation as proof. The sturdiest nation on earth." Still we have one good point to make. We make better oatmeal than the Scotch. They buy Quaker Oats and consider lit the' leader of all ' oatmeals to be had I anywhere. If you are convenient to the store you'll probably buy the (regular size package at 10c. For those who live in the country the large sise 'family package at 25c is more satisfactory. FIGHT RESULTS IN A DRAW STANLEY KETCH EL, MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION, AIRS HI3 VIEWS ON THE BOUT JEFFRIES ALSO TALKS SOME. ; Philadelphia, May 20. The following story of the Johnson-O'Brien battle was written for the Hearst News Bervlce by Stanley Ketchel. Ketchel expresses himself as not favorably impressed with the showing made by fche colored champion. (By Stanley Ketchel, Middleweight Champion Pugilist of the World.) Jack Johnson's showing against O'Brien didn't Impress me as being kf championship calibre. He is a big jfellow and carries a lot of weight, but (he will be soft for me, judging from fche way he fought. If I had been in 'Brien's place I think I would have id a great chance to score a knockjout over the big negro. He has a Treat defense and is . very cagey in Ithe clinches, but I would surely break through his guard with my heavy Jows and only one blow would be necessary to make bim hit the camel ' .4. 1. A. Any man that will let me chase ' liim f will aiirolv hnnt act T hava ol ways shown In my previous battles. Stanley Tickled. I am more than ticlded that I have a . chance to fight Johnson in October in San Francisco and I will prove in that fight that I am a far better man and more entitled to the heavyweight championship than Johnson. He looks to me like a man who will not stand up under much punishment and once I connect good and hard on him there will be . nothing to it "O'Brien put up a good fight with the : odds against him and can still show up some of the heavy men masquerading around the country as championBhip possibilities. JEFFRIES' OPINION. Thinks r It Was an O'Brien Victory. (By James J. Jeffries.) Chicago, May 20. In my opinion the fight was a defeat for Johnson. Vhile it probably will go down in the fecords as a draw or a. no decision afair, the public is going to consider the 'go" as a setback for the champion. Johnson calls himself champion of the world. He outweighed O'Brien pver forty pounds, and set out with fche vowed intention of stopping the PMladelphlan in less than six rounds. He failed to do this, and in so doing fete was defeated In his purpose. CITY IN BRIEF Mr. and Mrs. Anton Stolle left this snorntng for Newport. Kentucky, to attend the funeral of Mr. Stolle's mother. Prof. William M. Davis, the Harvard geologist, has taught Europeans much during the recent sojourn there. In the first place he taughtt he German savants how to carry on geological exploration parties with university students, which as , he (and Professor Ghaler before him) has made so popular at Harvard University. Then in London, lecturing before the Royal Geographical Society, on the Colorado canyon, he was so fascinating in Ills depiction of the scene that not a few of the hearers decided to make the trip. rvvThe beauty of one's akin can only he brought out by the rich, red blood under it. HIGH PRICES TO

E A YEAR Prediction Is Made by James A. Patten, the Wheat King. HE ADDRESSES FLOUR MEN HE ATTEMPTS TO SHOW THAT THE WHEAT CONDITIONS ALLOVER THE WORLD ARE AS BAD AS LA8T YEAR. Chicago, May 20. "These conditions enable me to predict that high prices for wheat will prevail all over the world for a year to come and that red winter wheat (the soft wheat) will sell as high then as it is selling today." This is the conclusion of James A. Patten after reviewing the wheat situation throughout the world in an address before the Chicago Flour Men's Club. Relating how there was a shortage of the crop in all wheat producing countries of the world last year, Mr. Patten proceeded to show that things are just as bad, if not a great deal worse, this year. He reiterated his belief that it was only the great advance In price that permitted America to keep its wheat at home and thus prevent an actual famine in the cereal.
