His mother sent for a police officer and patrolman Vogelsong was sent. -He tried - to induce Cook to leave the house, but he resisted and fought the officer like a tiger, kicking and clawing. With the help of two others Cook was subdued and loaded into the patrol wagon. His mother ' told the police the young man is crazy and had tried to take his, life "again," Cook claimed , he had been treating a corn with carbolic acid. When arraigned in city court this afternoon the young man did not appear to be exactly - sound mentally. He talked rationally, however. I suppose I'm guilty of anything you p it against me up here. Yes, that's all right, fine me." It was the expostulation of the notorious Josie Bond in city court this afternoon. She was arrested - this morning on the charge of public intoxication and was given a fine of $5 and costs. She said she didn't want to have to go to jail and sent her father home to borrow money from her mother to help pay the fine. She had been arrested following complaint on the part of her mother whom she had beaten . up. while in a state of semi-intoxication. The mother sent up the money. Was on Rampage., Josie was on a rampage this morn ing and among other places visited the police station. She was told to go home and keep still. : She went home and started trouble.. . When a patrolman arrived Josie sought her bed. but was ordered to leave it and go to jail. She put up a beautiful interference, but. was forced to take the count. After being put in the jail, she climbed on top of a tier of cells and smashed the window lights. 8he keVt up an incessant chatter and line of profanity that so disturbed the occupants of the city engineer's office that they were forced to close the windows.
