Plummer was born at New Salem, Rush county, Indiana, April 30, 1S30, to Joseph and Levina Plummer. There were five children, Jennie, Esther, William, Oliver. Josephine. They moved to Hagerstown. Ind., in 1845. His parents died when he was 12 years old. In 1800 he mar ried Emma Plffer, at her death one year later, he enlisted in the three months' service in Co. K, 11th Regi ment. He was honorably discharged In 83 as first lieutenant of same company and regiment. Taking up civil life at Hagerstown, Ind.. he entered the carriage business as a carriage blacksmith. He took an active part in the Methodist church, and at one time was superintendent of the Sunday scbcol. In 18;:. January 11th j he married Emily Johnson, having two children. Effie E.. born August 15. 1?H7, who died In the same year, Frank M.. born April Oth, 1B, who survives him. In 1872 he moved to Richmond, . Ind. .and formed the firm of Harris it Plummer, carriage makers. He was a member of Grace M. E. church for many years. At the death Of his wife Emily. May 8. 1S01, his health began to fall, which ho never regained. He passed away at 3:4o Thursday morning. March IS, leaving one son Frank M-, two step-daughters.
