Dr. Charles Bond, city health officer, stated today the smallpox scare was practically over and that but nine families would be under quarantine after tomorrow, providing no new cases appeared before then.' Four families were released from quarantine yesterday and a like number today. Sanitary Officer George . Young reported that two more families would be released tomorrow. During the height of the siege there were 21 houses quarantined. SUIT IS BROUGHT AGAINST FLEMING Fraud and Conspiracy Are Among Charges. Indianapolis. Ind March 18. A suit was filed today In federal court by Sidney Mitchell, receiver of the United Box Board and Paper company, against Senator Stephen B. Fleming, and his brother-in-law, A. B. Trentman of Fort Wayne, for $250,000 damages. It is alleged Fleming, as an official of the company, procured a lease from Trentman of the Eton paper mill, Delaware county, for $1,200 a year when it was actually worth $50,000 a year. Conspiracy is alleged. City Statistics Deaths and Funerals. PLUMMER Oliver Plummer one of the best' known machinists o? the city died early this morning at the home of his son Frank Plummer, 201 North Twenty-first street at the age of 70 years. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence. Burial will be in Earlham cemetery. Mr. Plummer was a Civil war veteran. CHROW Charles W. Chrow aged 38 years died Wednesday evening at Ms home 130 North D street. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house. The burial will be In Latrobe. A group of city officials from Portland was In the city today to inspect the macadam streets, cement curbs, gutters, sidewalks and other forms of public Improvements.
