II Petitions Are Circulated Ask- ; ihg for Election Fin Oefaware County. NEED ABOUT 2,600 NAMES ANTI-SALOON LEAGUE HAS FORMED A VERY EFFECTIVE ORGANIZATION AND THE WETS ALSO ORGANIZED. Muncle, Ind., March 17. Yesterday marked the beginning of the battle which, will end In the decision of the voters of Delaware county as to wheth er or not licensed saloons shall be permitted to operate in the county. Ev ery nook: and cranny of the county will be flooded with petition for the signatures of legal voters requesting the board of commissioners of Delaware county to call a special county lo cal' option election. The Delaware county organization Of the Anti-Saloon' league is behind the movement. About 250 petitions were started in circulation and one member of the league was so optimistic last night that he stated be believed the full quota of signatures would be received this evening. Not less than between 2,500 and 2.600 names must he on the petitions when they are filed with the board of commissioners before they may be considered. The signatures must equal 20 per cent of the total vote cast at the last general lection for the office of secretary of state. Are 250 Petitions. The petitions will he circulated according to population. In each of the out-township precincts, five petitions will be in circulation. In each precinct in the city of Muncle about ten papers will be circulated, which will rlng the full complement up to more than 250 petitions. The vote will be polled in each precinct and advance news of the probable result will be received from this poll. The petition itndotfbtedly will be filed at such a time that the commissioners will have an opportunity to, act at the next regular session, if sufficient number of names is secured to the papers, and present indications are that such will be an easy matter. The petitions are drawn up in the following words: , i "To the board of commissioners of the county of Delaware: We the undersigned, legal voters of Delaware county, state of Indiana, would respectfully petition that an election be held to determine whether the sale of intoxicating liquors as a beverage shall be prohibited' in said county." The Anti-Saloon league has started Its campaign for the coming affray. In practically all the precincts of the county meetings have been held! under the auspices of the league and an organization in each precinct perfected. The battle fronts of both the temperance and anti-temperance forces have been formed and within a short time a struggle, which now seems to give rise to an occasion not to be forgotten soon will be on in fujl sway. GOOD NEWS OF A GREAT THING. That Has Become the Talk of ThouThere is a death at the end of every life, but as we travel on toward the grave we hope to be blessed with good health, and when we have a friend who has suffered for years with some painful malady, it is good news, Indeed, when we are told of that friend's complete recovery, and when we hear of the remedy that made the cure, we are bound to have confidence tn it. This is why Root Juice is so Well spoken of all over the country. Mr. Sam , Anderson, a well known farmer living near Gas City. Ind., said: "1H tell you Root Juice is a great med icine. I suffered for years with rheumatism and stiff joints, and when 1 awoke in the mornings I could hardly raise myself from the bed. My feet and hands were sore, stiff and painful, ftnore especially during rainy weather. I had a great deal of trouble With my back. Root Juice cured one of my neighbors of a bad stomach trouble so I thought I would give it a trial, although my trouble was entirely different. I purchased a bottle of Root Juice and a 25c bottle of "Use-it" Pain Oil: I rubbed my back and joints well with the oil and took Root Juice precisely as directed. I felt so much better after the first week that I bought six more bottles of the Juice, also some of the Liniment in a few weeks every symptom of my trouble was gone. I now feel that the cure is permanent and am advising all my sick friends to try Root Juice." Root Juice has proved its wonderful merit to hundreds of Richmond people. For sale by A. O. Luken & Co. $1 a bottle, 3 for $2.50. From Paris comes the story that a carrying out gunnery experiments on the hulk of the disabled battleship Jena, the. French government intends to go further than have the other navies, and not only test the durability of the ships, bat the effect of battle action on life on the ship attacked. The effect of gases generated by explosions in compartments on the suip will be studied by the substitution of cows for men in the Jena. James R. Keene and J. B. Haggin recently sold in Buenos Aires seventyfive thoroughbreds from their racing and breeding farms In the .- United States. The sales were only fairly successful because American horses were previously unknown Umt
