TROOPS GIVE SUPPLIES FREAKS OF THE 8TORM WONDERFUL, ONE HOUSE BEING CARRIED QUARTER OF A MILE AND DROPPED IN LAKE.
Brlnkley, Ark., March 11. The state troops in control of the storm-stricken town under the orders of Governor : Lonaghy, proclaiming martial law, are gradually bringing order out of chaoB, and with the arrival of relief In the way of provisions and supplies from near-by towns the victim of the disaster heroically confront the task of rebuilding their homes. At Brinkley 35 bodies have been recovered, 13 of whom are white, while the list of injured will number fully 200. .. In its path across the state the etorm passed through 11 counties and struck 23 towns, i, .Reports received from these points show a dead list of 13, bringing the total , number" of dead from the storm close up to 50. Fortysix received more or less serious injuries in towns outside of this place. Freak of Storm. One of the peculiar freaks of the storm happened near Marked Tree, where the storm pit-ted up the residence of William E. S pence, carried it ever a quarter of amile and deposited it in St. Francis Lake. Ail of the family, had narrow escapes from drowning. ; . - - At Zion, three, were killed and two fatally injured. At Sentoni 20 residences were destroyed, one killed and four fatally injured. At Piney Wood, one was killed and three seriously injured. ' At Salem, Miss., Sadie K esterson died of excitement during storm. At Fcurche Dam four houses were destroyed, one was , killed and five injured. v Berhani and Sheridan each report one death, and at Hot Springs William H. Stanley was blown into the Saline River. Train Load ef Convicts. A train load of convicts arrived here and immediately set to work cleaning up the debris. A mass meeting of the citizens was held after which Mayor Jackson issued an appeal calling upon those towns which have offered aid, to end lumber as soon as possible in order that the work of rebuilding"' might be begun at once. There is not a dwelling In the town whose roof is intact and there are only CO which withstood th effects of the tornado... , - The Roman- Catholic church stands like a gaunt erntinel in the midst of the ruin,' and is being ueed as a temporary hospital and shelter for those whose homes have be sn swept away, and who otherwise have been exposed to the fury cf the elements. Mayor T. H'Jackcon has issued an appeal for aid. In an official statement ' he reviews the destruction wrought by the tornado Monday night, places the number of dead at and ears that 'over "IK persona -were inJurcd. ,
