PHOTOGRAPHERS III FORK SCOTT Supposed Accomplices in His Counterfeiting Scheme.
John Koenlg and Charles Drewde two photographers were arrested yesterday at Chicago and charged with photographing Argentine . Republic bank notes for Robert E. Scott formerly of this city in order that be might have plates made from the photographs to counterfeit Argentine Republic money. . The identity of the Argentine Republic official who was interested with Scott in the fraud has not been divulged. An effort to locate relatives of Scott in this city and county has proven fruitless as all the Scotts are denying relationship. Scott is now in the Marion county jail under $5,000 bond awaiting for the convening of the federal grand Jury that it may investigate the case. IIICHQLSOII WAS IMPROVED TODAY Will Probably Be Out the First Of Next Week. .Timothy Nicholson who hss been confined at his residence South Ninth street with an attack of erysipelas for a few days, was much . improved today. His physician believes that he will be able to be out by the first of next week if nothing occurs to cause a set back. . HOrfSES AND 'OdffKEYST Early Habits That Domestication Have Net Eradicated. ' A curious question in evolution was once put to a scientist prominent In the service of the government. "Why is it," some one asked, "that horses shy and donkeys do not? The answer was to the following effect: . The ancestors of the horse were ac.customed to roam over the plains. -where every tuft of grass or bush might conceal an enemy waiting ir ambush. " In these circumstances thr must have time and again saved the' lives by quickly starting back or else suddenly jumping to one side wh without warning some strange object appeared to them. Th habit mv hav Indeed been a strong one. sestet that so many years of domestication have not eradicated It On the other hand, the donkey Is de scended from animals that lived among tho hills, with the usual precipices and dangerous declivities, and from these conditions. It would appear, there resulted its slowness and sure footedness. The donkey's ancestors were not. then, so liable to sudden attacks from wild beasts and snakes. Moreover, sudden and wOd starts would have been positively dangerous to the donkey's forbears. Consequently they learned to avoid the characteristic trick of the horse. The habit of eattng thistles, peculiar to the donkey, seems also to have bees Inherited from its ancestors. In the dry. barren localities they Inhabited these was often very little tend: therefore they learned to eat the hard, dry and even prickly plants nasi vsdergTowth wlam nothing else presented itself.
