C the opening day of one winter session the late Professor Tait of Edinburgh university entered the natural philosophy class room in the midst of the uproarious applause common to those occasions. Presently he looked np at the tumultuous benches above him with the smile of one who had known the ways of students for a lifetime. At last, when a momentary lull came, be remarked, his gray eyes twinkling: "Gentlemen, I must remind yon that there Is really no each thing as noise. It Is merely a matter of subjective impression." No Flies on Him. Two Irishmen, just landed, stopped at a private boarding house on one hot July night. Retiring early, they left the window open and the light burning brightly. The mosquitoes swarmed into the room and began biting. Mike, awakening, called to Pat t put out the light. Pat got np and put It ont and crawled back to bed again. Pat awoke about an hour later and found the room full of fireflies and said: "It's no nse. Mike. They are coming In with lanterns r Pleasure Trips. "Going to the north pole is no pleasure trip," said the sympathetic friend. "Well." answered the arctic expldier. "It reminds me somewhat of the average pleasure trip. Everybody is so anxious to start and so glad to get home. Washington Star. ,

Miss Martha Miller, who was buried under a falling brick wall of the old Hibberd property yesterday morning, is resting easier today and her ultimate recovery is predicted. It is
believed that her injuries will not be more serious than those mentioned yesterday. Internal Injuries which were expected to follow as a consequence of the accident have not as yet developed. There seems to be a diversity of opinion among the members of the St. Mary's congregation as to whether or not the street was blockaded. At any rate the street today was roped, early In the morning and precaution taken to prevent a similar accident. REAL ESTATE TRANSFERS Charles Wilson to Lula M.
