USHERS AT THE COLISEUM WERE . DRE8SEDV IN NAVAL, UNIFORMS LOANED BY THE NATIONAL BOVERNMENT.
One of the most pleasing features in connection with the Lincoln centenary exercises was the music. It was rendered by the Richmond City band and the Apollo club. The band wore the Customary uniforms and the club members were dressed in the fatigue uniform of the regular army. The ushers appeared in sailor uniforms. These suits were obtained from government authorities at Indianapolis. : Band Was Feature. While the audience was congregating the band rendered an impromptu program. "Poet and Peasant" and "Sounds from the Sunny South" were the other band selections and each was well received by the audience. As a musical organization this "band is
making rapid progress and now is recognized as one of the best in , the state. Its program last evening was very pleasing to the audience. ' Apollo Club Good One. The Apollo club was well received. This Is the best musical organization in the city composed solely of male voices and is fast gaining a reputation. Its patriotic songs and "Oh Hail Us Ye Free" , were particularly pleasing. Kipling's "Recessional" was sung also. The soprano obllgato was to have been rendered by Mrs. F. W. Kreuger, but she was unable to he present and It was taken by Oliver Nusbaum. The register was too high for his voice, but his effort was appreciated. L. B. Nusbaum. leader of the club, was dressed in the uniform of an officer. :

In order to be able to go to school ' and learn something and at the same time quit chewing tobacco, Frank Johnson, a fourteen year old lad told thai court . yesterday afternoon he would like to go to the Plainfield school for boys. The youngste has not had a chance. His associates have not been the best and he has been accused of petty thieving. The boy said he preferred going to a reform school where he could learn a trade and be cared for even if there were restrictions to being allowed to run about and learn only bar habits. The court approved the lad's attitude and may make special recommendations. Jackson was taken to Plainfield today.
EXERCISES UELD . IT JE COLLEGE Dev. Dr. Lyons Delivers an Address.
At very befitting services in honor of the Lincoln Centennial anniversary held, at Earlham College this morning the Rev. 8. R. Lyons of the Reid Memorial church gave a very interesting talk on the "Life of Abraham Lincoln. President Robert L. Kelly of the college made a short talk and Prof. Edwin P. Trueblood read a number, of extracts from addresses of Lincoln's and the Gettysburg speech in full. The devotional exercises were led By the Rev. Allen Jay. The Rev. Lyons was a member of the Northern Army and Is undoubtedly one of the-greatest lovers of Lincoln in the city.
"Young man, I was told today that yon were the worst boy in the neighborhood." "Gee! If 1 was a man and any one talked that way about my little boy. erne one would get licked." "Some cue is going to get licked now. Take off yous coat", .

WABASH
Two Crack Basketball Teams Meet at Coliseum for Supremacy Tonight. LITTLE GIANTS FAVORITES
Earlham? Wabash? What will be the result? These are some of the questions that are confronting the Earlham students. But it will all be settled at the Coliseum this evening. According to the dope artist Wabash is
the favorjte, but Earlham is to be
counted in the running and it would not be any great surprise to see the
Quakers trim the Little Giants. The
two teams met four years ago and the Quaker representatives led - up to the last few minutes - of the game when Wabash took a final spurt and won out. Since that time the Little Giants have been the successive champions of the state. This year they have a fast
team, but Earlham has just as good a
team as four years ago and they expect to make things interesting for the Crawfordsvillians.
A STATE FIELD MEEET
All Y. M. C. A. Teams to Hold Individual Meets and Wire Results.
SCHEME IS A UNIQUE ONE
Arrangements are being made by the different Y. M. C. A. associations of the state to hold an indoor field meet during the latter part of this month or the early part of next. Instead of having one place of meeting, which is possible only by the expenditure of much money, the plan -is for each association to have an individual meet and the results telegraphed to Indian
apolis. A committee at the capital city will then compare the results from the different associations and announce the winners. The same end will be accomplished as ,though the meet was neld in one place. It is the first time that such a scheme has been tried. The contestants to represent the local association have not been determined upon.
PLACE MEMORIAL TABLET THE BRONZE AD0RN8 THE BUILDING WHICH WAS LINCOLN'S FIRST LAW OFFICE WASHINGTON CELEBRATES.
Springfield, 111., Feb. 12. Seldom has this city witnessed a more pretentious celebration than the Lincoln centennial program rendered here today.
The city is in gay attire: lithographs and pictures and relics of Lincoln are
everywhere to be seen. The ceremonies j
began this morning at nine, when the Grand Army Post planted an elm tree in the court house yard. Later the services were held at the Lincoln mon-' ument, followed by the dedication of a tablet in Lincoln's first law office. A ch i ch service and mass meeting this afternoon were held. The speakers included Senator Dolliver and William Jennings Bryan. A big banquet at the armory tonight will wind up the celebration. WASHINGTON OBSERVES DAY. Washington, Feb. 12. It Looks Like Tie Vote in Senate on the Tomlinson Liquor Measure. TWO DEMOCRATS BALKY

FOUR REPUBLICANS ARE SUP PORTING IT.
Palladium Bureau Indianapolis, Feb. 12. It will probably be up to Lieutenant Governor Hall to cast the deciding vote on the Tomlinson bill in the senate. McCarty and Tilden (democrats) will vote against the bill, leaving twenty-one democrats for it. It is believed that Wood, Orndorf, Durre, Gonnerman, (republicans) will vote for the bill if the license be made a thousand dollars. This would make the vote stand 25 for and 25 against the passage. Hall would in this contingency vote aye and pass the bill. The bill will come to vote in the sen-
rate next week. There are fifty-one
new bills in the house. None are important except one by Brolley to repeal the indetermediate sentence law. The house killed the Bloomfield court bill and advanced the Linton court bill to the third reading. It also engrossed the Hammond court bill and the bill for a separate circuit court in Howard county. . Against Steal Trust. In the house today Strickland and Askren each Introduced bills to repeal "Riparian -rights act," passed two years ago. These measures are directed at the United States Steel
