This move on the part of te supervisors was done as a result i f the miserable contest between. Langi'ord and Jimmy Flynn, which Langford won' in one round. -' Charlie Murphy wants the National league to take care of Pop Anson by making him supervisor of umpires. ' The Philadelphia Nationals have refused to waive claim on Jack Hamilton and will take the former New York and Boston player. A Northern Indiana Circuit Proposed.

A new baseball league has been announced to take the field in this state next season. The cities in the league are Wabash, Logansport, Kokomo, Marion, Huntington, Peru, all on traction lines. It will be a trolley circuit. The schedule to be arranged will provide for games each week clay. Should the Sunday baseball bill go through the legislature this day will be made use of-

Palladium Bureau. Indianapolis, Jan. 22. Another inning in the Sunday base ball game will be played next Monday night when the house committee on cities and towns will hold an open meeting for the purpose of hearing the boosters and the knockers. .This Is the committee that has in charge the bill to legalize the playing of Sunday base ball. It was expected that a report on the bill would be made by this time, but now that the committee has decided to hold an open meeting and give everybody a chance to talk for and against the bill it looks like it will be some time before the house will have a chance to vote on it. Arrangements are being made for a large delegation of ministers both from this city and other places throughout the state to attend the meeting and speak against the bill. The ministers will also carry the fight upon the floor of the house, if necessary, to defeat the bill. This is what they did two years ago and they beat the bill In the senate after it had passed the house by a big majority. It is believed that the bill will pass this time, however. Hammond-Gary War. The fight between Hammond and Gary over the location of a new superior court has assumed a serious aspect. Each town has a delegation here looking after its interests and the legislators are worried to death by them. , - Senator Bowser, of Chesterton, who represents Lake and Porter counties in the tipper house, is chairman of the committee on court of the . senate

and when he Introduced a bill in the senate some days ago for the creation of a superior court at Gary he had the bill referred to his own committee. This committee made a favorable report on the bill, yesterday. But Hammond came to bat yesterday with a new bill, also. Senator Halleck introduced one for the appointment of an additional superior court judge at Hammond, giving that city two. Lieutenant Governor Hall referred the bill to the judiciary committee but Bowser made a motion that it be referred to the committee on courts, of which he is chairman. It is believed here that this settles Halleck's bill, for Bowser is not likely to make any kind of a repoFt on the bill. If he does it will be a report to kill it. - To Register Voters. Representative Faulknor, of Michigan City, introduced a bill in the house for the registration, of voters. It is practically the same as the bill introduced In the senate a .few days ago by Senator Clark. The legislature took another whack at bucket shops, yesterday, when Representative Murphy, of Montgomery county, introduced a bill providing that money lost in stock deals in these establishments may be recovered in a suit at law, the same as money lost at gambling. Prohibits Rebating. A bill to prohibit the rebating of life insurance premiums also was introduced, in the house. It makes it a crime for any agent to offer to rebate any part of the premium in order to sell the insurance. It is a crime for any person to accept any insurance rebate. The duty of looking after this is placed in the hands of the auditor of state, who shall make an investigation when he hears of such a transaction and if the agent is found guilty his license to do business in the state shall be revoked and cannot be renewed for one year. If an insurance company consents to such rebate its license shall be revoked also. Another bill introduced yesterday provides for the licensing of all life insurance agents. The antirebate bill, was introduced by Wells of Fort Wayne and the license bill by Stahl, of Noble county. A Closed Fishing Season, The' senate committee on criminal code, of which Senator Kirk man, of Richmond, is chairman, decided last night to report favorably on a bill by Senator Kane, of Noblesville, for a closed season for fishing in all streams of the state from February 1 to June 15. Also on a bill to raise the punishment for robbery from two to

fourteen years, as fixed by law at present, to ten to twenty years. The house committee on rights and privileges, last night decided to report favorably on a bill authorizing the state fish and game commissioner to print 10,000 extra copies of his annual re t. This Is in addition to the 1,0( .oples authorized by statute. A bill that has aroused comment among the senators is one introduced by Senator Kistler a few days ago to require railroads to place electric headlights on all of their locomotives. S. O. Pickens, of this city, attorney for the Pennsylvania railroad and the VandalJa railroad, has requested a hearing before the senate committee on railroads on this bllL He declares that the bill was Introduced in the Interest of the headlight manufacturers and he Ears the railroads will not stand for it.
