FAMOUS ARCHITECTURAL AUTHORITY 8AYS THAT THE CITY HAS MANY FINE BUILDINGS TO BE PROUD OF.

That the architecture of he residences and many or the important buildings in this city is of the best was a statement made by Mr. Ittner, special Architect in the employ of the sThool board to prepare plans and specifications for the addition to the Garfield echool building, on a recent visit. The Pennsylvania depot, which to many citizens has been an eye-sore, was declared to be the prettiest building in the city because of its symmetry of lines. Among other buildings which he had a good word for, were the Reid Memorial church, the hospital by the same name, the court house and library, the Westcott hotel and many private ' residences. He refrained from discussing the beauties of the architecture of the business blocks, although he had ample opportunity, as he was taken over the- entire city by T. A. Mott, superintendent of the city chools. Mr. Ittner is thoroughly capable of discussing such a subject. He is recognized all over the United States as the best authority on the architecture and arrangements of public schools and at the present time is devoting his entire time to this kind of work. In speaking of the Pennsylvania! depot to Mr. Mott he stated the beauty of the building laid in the fact that every line was symmetrical to every other, and that the brick columns added materially to the beauty. If the architect planning the building had provided stone, he said, instead of brick as a material with which to construct these columns, the effect, in contrast to the remaining portion of the building . would have detracted from the general appearance. Mr. Ittner declared that from any view point which he looked at the building that it appeared to be In perfect harmony with the remainder. The business buildings of the city were the only ones not touched upon by the architect and from this It was inferred by his hearers that he, preferred not to discuss them because he could not say a good word for their architecture.

INTERRUPTED BY SMS ARRIVAL Hollanshurg W. C. T. U. President Surprises Members.

The W. C. T. U. held their December meeting at the home of Mrs. Leola Brown. One of the most interesting features of this session was not announced on the program. Shortly after the opening exercises " were concluded a message was received by telephone that the stork had just visited the home of the president, Mrs. Mamie Wolf, and had left an eleven pound boy. Of course this called for immediate and decisive action on the part of the union, and a message of congratulation was sent to Mr. and Mrs. Wolf with the suggestion that the young giant be called "Willard Dow." The reply came back that the name was adopted by the parents "unanimously."

ANGRY WILD CAT Joseph Turner of Richmond Has Exciting Adventure With One. MAKES A LUCKY SHOT.

scarcely In calling distance and an1 angry wild cat before him screachingj his screachiest screach, Joseph Tur-j ner of Richmond "was badly frighten-

ed. Frightened so much, in fact, that he says his hair stood on the perpendicular and his trembling legs were scarcely able to hold the weight of his body. According to the story which Mr. Turner is telling, he had presence of mind enough to raise his gun and shoot at the animal. The "bob" cat scurried into the underbrush and it was by a trail of blood that Turner was able to trace the cat. Some distance away he found it dead. He has brought the skin home. He says that during his hunt in the wilds of Arkansas he secured one deer but little small game.
