Secret advices received from Caracas, where the strictest censorship is being observed, indicate the whole of Venezuela has been in a ferment since President Castro sailed and that the

crisis was reached a few days ago when it became necessary for Acting : President Gomez to take decisive

steps, which he .did by eliminating from his cabinet those who were closely affiliated with Castro. The revolutionary factions played a

prominent part in the demonstrations ; against the absent president, which : took the form of rioting and incendiar-1 ism. Letters received here tell of a plot to assassinate Gen. Dello, commander of Fort San Carlos at Faracaibo. The

ELECTORS MEET ON JANUARY 11

Weak Little Boys may become fine strong men. Some of the strong men of to-day were sickly boys years ago. Many of them received Scott's Emulsion at their mother's knee. This had a power in it that changed them from weak, delicate boys into strong, robust boys. It has the same power to-day. Boys and girls who are pale and weak get food and energy out of Scott's Emulsion, It makes children grow.

"The Devil." In order to be absolutely accurate in every detail of the production of Franz Molnar's comedy, "The Devil," Henry W. Savage, who holds the sole authorized version of the piece, engaged the services of general stage director of Herr Julius Herzka, direc

tor-general of the Volks theater, Vienna. Herr Herzka is a personal friend of many years standing of the author, and also made the translation of the

' play from the original Hungarian into

the German. It was at Herr Herzka's theater In Vienna that the first presentation of "The Devil" was made, outside of the author's own Hungary. The play deals with an evil that is known to society generally, the main character being presonified by a figure that suggests rather than actually resembles what we are led by tradition to believe to be that scurilous person, "The Devil." This symbolic character is the predominating and predominant figure throughout a brilliant comedy that holds its audiences

breathless until the final curtain. The play will b'f presented at the Gennett theater January 1. Henry E. Dixey will be seen in the leading role, with all the elaborate scenic detail that marked the production of the Molnar comedy at the Garden Theater, New York.

"Montana." In exploiting "Montana" this season Mr. Harry D. Carey, the author and producer has staged the piece even beyond his greatest expectations in as much as he has had all new scenery built, great electrical effects added and staged by Mr. Thomas McGrain, Mr. David Belasco's stage manager. Miss Frances Hooper will "be seen in the stellar role, supported by a capable and well balanced cast, including Miss May Crollus, Mr. Thomas J. Fftzpatrick and ten others. "Montana" as written by Mr. Carey is a typical Western play, eliminating however the predominating gun play that is so usual in the modern western

play, Mr. Carey has gone beyond the melodrama stage but has in Its stead written a strong and powerful drama. It will be presented at the Gennett December 30, matinee and night.
