do what .told. Heath got Kidwell drunk and then induced him to imitate signatures and forge a number of checks. The pair was arrested and sent to prison. Kidwell would have been released from prison fifteen days earlier, but he chanced to meet Heath at the prison and proceeded to whip him. The extra days were added as penalty. Kidwell says he was glad to administer the beating to Heath, as he will believe always that man was to blame for - his "downfall. Heath is a brother-in-law. Telling of his experience in an interview Kidwell said: "Well, I'm back and the little woman says she loves me better now than she did when we were on our honeymoon. That honeymoon was broken off in a manner that was pretty tough for us both, but I am not as bad a man as the circumstances made it appear and she knows it. '"Indeed, I do," interrupted Mrs. Kidwell, with a glow in her brown eyes that a man would be willing to go to the pen for. "Albert has come back to me just as he said he would. I feel so well and happy today that I begin to doubt if I have tuberculosis at all. I think it was heart trouble that my worrying made worse. And now when everything is. straightened out and I've got him back again, we are going to start our honeymoon all

over. Life seems so good!"

And then Kidwell continued: "I have come to see my mother. She is pretty well along in years now and is nearly blind. I have my mother to support as well as my wife, and I'm going to do it honestly. Had it not been fo Heath, I would neve have thought of doing it any other way. I am a barber by trade and I expect to get work in Richmond and save enough to take m wife to a better climate. ' v "I Am Not AtTiamed. "My only reason for coming to Richmond is to be near my mother. I am not ashamed to face anybody, and I know I could have gone right out in Dayton and have gotten work, but my mother needs me. "There is only one thing that I regretted very much about the whole matter," added Kidweii, as he looked tenderly at his little wife. Mrs. Kidwell saddened and she explained, "Albert had not seen the baby. He had been In the penitentiary several months when it was born." "They said he looked exactly like me," said the father with a strong paternal pride for the child he had never

seen. Well, we have both seen a

pretty tough time of it," said Kidwell,

"and somehow it looks as though nothing but fate was to blame; still I be

lieve on looking on the bright side. I

am only 26 years old and I can get a

new start, now that am back with my little brown-eyed wife. He Knows the True.

"I am going to work hard and make

her happy. I have learned a few

things, among them, not to be too good

a friend to tall, handsome sports who

wear diamonds while they are earning

workmen's wages. "The little girl here has been mighty good to me. I got two letters a week from her, while I could only write four a month, except when I got special leave. Two of these went to my mothI er and two to my wife." J Kidwell is strong, square-looking and. has all the ear marks of a com

petent and honest man.
