Was Woman of Wealth Who Sought to Blackmail Rich Mrs: Phipps, of Denver, for $10,000
Denver, Col., Nov. 11. Further developments as to the identity of the woman who threatened Mrs. Genevieve Chandler Phipps with death unless she delivered $100,000 within an hour, show it was not the need of money that influenced her to attempt blackmail, but must have been the suggestion of a diseased mind. After learning that the woman was the wife of Allen Reed, a druggist of this city, investigation showed that Mrs. Reed is one of two daughters of a Springfield, Mass., millionaire woolen manufacturer named Campbell, who died recently, leaving a large estate to his daughters. Mrs. Reed's income from her share la more than $12,000 a month.
AFFINITY DEFTLY WIELDS A CHAIR Artist Earle Now Has Black Eye and Injured Jaw.
New York, Nov. 11. Ferdinand Pinny Earl, of affinity renown, is nursing a black eye at his castle-like home in Monroe, N. Y. lie is also caring for a large bruised bump on the same side of his head. The marks of battle, he confided to a neighbor, were inflicted Sunday afternoon by Julia Kuttner Earl, his affinity wife, whom he wedded early this year, after putting aside his first wife and his children last fall. The affinity wife, Earl told his neighbor, used a 'chair as her weapon. His head shows how effectually she wielded it. The score between the artist and his soul mate now stands even, for two months ago he beat and choked her and spent several days in the Goshen jail, after pleading guilty to that assault.
WILL SHOOT HOLES IN SOLIALjST DOCTRINE President Prepares Article After Much Study.
New York 11. A Washington special to the New York American says: "President Roosevelt has been making a deep study of socialism, and before long will make known his views on this movement in the shape of an article he is. witing. "If It not known where this article will be printed, but it is understood by some to be intended for The Outlook, for which the president has agreed to become a contributing editor after tfe leaves the white house. "The president has been following the course of socialism in the United States with profound interest for the last three years. . "Those who have talked with the president about socialism say that he in his forthcoming article will shoot holes in the doctrines advocated by Eugene V. Debs and other leaders."
The police are convinced Mrs. Reed is insane, perhaps from the use of drugs, and later they turned her over to the care of her husband, who arrived from Buffalo Park, Colo., as soon as he .learned his wife was in trouble. Mr. Reed suggested perhaps he would place his wife In a private sanitarium for treatment. Cannot Explain Action. Although Mrs. Reed displayed better mental control toward the last of her interviews with Chief of Police Armstrong, she is unable to explain her attempt to coerce Mrs. Phipps into giving her a large sum of money and can not remember where she pro
cured the dynamite with which she
threatened the life of Mrs. Phipps and her daughter Helen.
The Remarkable Will
01 A Doctor
He Leaves the Secret of Life to His
Children And the World.
One of the world's greatest physicians upon his death bed called his
children about him and said: "When I die I will leave the secret of life as I
have discovered it in my practice."
When they read his will it directed
them to a safety vault which contain
ed a large envelope marked thus:
"The Secret of Life." Upon opening
it they read: "Don't abuse the atom
ach." This profound thinker after a
long life of medicine knew the stom ach to be the throne of man.
Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets will help
you make a stomach he ilthy.
If it is worn out and 1 icks the fluids of digestion these tablets will take the
place of such fluids.
If it is filled with poisonous juices,
these tablets will neutralize and remove such poison.
If you cannot eat without agony these tablets will show you how you can. If you will eat foolishly, or drink excessively, or if business demands abuse of stomach, these tablets after meals will make such abuse light, for
they take the hardship away from the
stomach.
They are great digesters, filled with
more powerful agents than the system
can give. They go back into the blood
after they have digested a meal, thereby increasing the ability of nature to take care of digestion without exhaust
ing other organs.
High livers need feel no consider
able hardship if they will eat one of
these little tablets after a rich or late
meal.
It is a splendid gift to the stomach and a good habit to form. Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets sell for 50c per
package at every drug store.
