How many of you middle-aged people who have been renting all your life are satisfied? What have you to show in the end for the many hard-earned dollars you have paid your landlord? Nothing but a bunch of rent receipts. The Declaration of Independence was a formal declaration of the facts and principles upon which the protest of arms was based why not declare YOUR absolute independence of the "RENT MAN" now? Fight him! Fight him hard! Fight him tooth and nail! Make every dollar count for something besides rent slavery. It's not too late to cast off the chains of the "Rent Paying" oppression and begin again to buy a house, maybe on monthly payments, if the bank account is not large. Your city calls to you to do your duty as a true, conscientious citizen, to love it and live for it and your family. The tendency to buy instead of rent homes in which your children are born and your joys and sorrows are mixed by the hand of God, is a movement which has brought already to our city the goodly name of "The City of Homes " The movement to make this city foremost among the grandest in the United States is a meritorious one. Now is the time to invest in local real estate. Not next year, but now, today. Don't wait for Richmond property to depreciate in value IT NEVER WILL. The remarkable strides this city has taken in the past few years can but be conducive to establishing higher values on property in this section. Shake off the shackles of doubt and despair, step into the sunshine, forget the meaning of pessimism and panic. Nearly every real estate dealer advertising in this issue today will sell or build you a home on easy monthly payments no more than rent. Then buy--buy for your own sake, buy for your family's sake, buy for your city's sake, buy for your country's sake. Sign your declaration of independence now.
