HORSE SHOW A BIG ATTRACTION
Scheduled to Be Held in Conjunction With the Fall Festival.

$300 IN PRIZES WILL BE GIVEN BY THE FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION AMSDEN MAKES AN EXCELLENT ENTRY.
One of the distinct features of the fall festival will be the horse show. Chairman Tom Butler and his capable committee in charge of this work have accomplished wonders. From an event which at first promised to amount to but little, the horse show will be one of the greatest attractions of the big vent. Over one hundred horses have been entered so far, thus insuring the largest horse show ever held In this section of the country. These entries include every class of horse, from the big Norman draught animals to the clean limbed, graceful racers. Prizes totaling $300 will be award ed to the winners of first and second prizes in the various classes. Richmond is in the center of the best horse country," outside of Kentucky, In the middle west, so the animals displayed here will be among the very best in the country. To show the high class of this exhibit, George Amsden, a well j own horse breeder, residing north of this city, last week entered the two best known stallions in the United States, namely "Oratorio" and "Prince Di
rect." The former is probably the best known stud in the country while "Prince Direct" holds more championships than any other animal in the world. He is the best harness horse this country has produced in years. The horse show will be held on North A street on Tuesday afternoon end that thoroughfare will probably be thronged with thousands of people. All horses entered in the show are provided with good quarters and fed by the fall festival association.
AMERICAN EXPO IIJLD LONDON Will Commemorate Completion of Atlantic Cable.
, New York, Oct. 3 What is planned to be an exclusively American exposition is announced to be held in England next year. It is to be known as the Golden West and American Industries Exhibition, and will be held in the buildings and grounds of Earls' Court, London, from May to October. All the exhibits will be taken to London from this country. A committee headed by the Lord Mayor of London has been organized, and representatives have been appointed to visit the leading cities and all manufacturing districts of this country. The exhibition is intended to show the great development of the Western States since the discovery of gold in California, in 1849, and will also commemorate the completion of the Atlantic cable in 1858.

Washington, D. C, Oct. 3. Battle practice for the Atlantic Battleship fleet, the Pacific fleet, and other ves
sels which are now in the Atlantic and Pacific "Oceans has been arranged. The Atlantic fleet will have battle practice in October in the Philippines. Here the English system of target practice will be gone through in the same manner as was done before the fleet left the Atlantic coast. Officers, satisfied that battle practice renders the gunners more efficient and is more advantageous to the navy than the ordinary target practice, have strongly urged that battle practice be continued in the fall of -each year. The Pacific fleet will have its battle practice from Nov. 1 to 20, at Magdalena Bay.

PHYSICIAN FIGHTS TO FREE GIRL HE LOVES IN ASYLUM
Cincinnati, Oct 3. Dr. John Lewis McLeish of Hyde Park, a suburb, who resigned as physician of the Ohio state hospital for the insane, has returned to Cincinnati and proceedings for the release of Barbara Kltts, 25 years old, confined in the insane ward of the institution, with whom Dr. McLeish declares he is in love. "I spent considerable time with the girl," he said. "The next day my resignation was requested and I complied. The girl is now sane. I love her and Intend marrying her. My Intentions toward her are honorable. "I leave for Ironton, O., to see hep mother, Mrs. Mary Kitts, and induce her to get a habeas corpus writ for

She was formerly employed in the National Cash Register offices at Dayton, O. Dr. McLeish is a graduate of Ohio Medical college of the class of 1887. He was graduated from Princeton university medical college of the class of 1897. He was graduated from Princeton university in 1895. Five years ago Dr. McLeish, after a tour of Mexico, wrote a historical novel with Mexican color. ,

Twenty children in twenty-six years is the remarkable record of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Mclntyre of McKee's Rocks and all of them are "singles" and all living. Married in 18S2, the babies have been coming at Intervals of fifteen and a half months. The latest arrival is a boy and weighs fifteen pounds. In the family there are twelve sons and eight daughters.

Latrobe, Pa., Oct 3. After playing the good Samaritan, David Rhodes, who lives alone near Bradenville, was robbed by two homeless men whom he provided with food and shelter for the night. When he awoke in the morning he found they had stolen a gold watch and $13 which he had saved to buy a grave-stone for his dead daughter John and Russell Shaffer were arrested and confessed.

If you were perfectly well and never had an ache or a pain in your life, how would vjou like it If a number of husky hospital nurses grabbed you, undressed you, put you to bed, and treated you as though you were delirious and dangerously 111? - And just because you happened to be visiting the hospital for the purpose of seeing a sick relative.. This is what happened to William H. Klugemann, shipping clerk for the general storekeeper of the Brooklyn navy yard. . He Is a twin. , Now, his twin brother, a few days ago, was seized with an attack of appendicitis, and was rushed off to the Albany hospital. Klugemann went to Albany to visit his brother, who had Just been operated on. He later went to the hospital in company with his sister.
As Klugemann and his sister were paslng through the convalescent ward of the hospital they met one of the nurses. When the nurse spied Klugemann she exclaimed. In horror: "My God! There's my patient walking about In delirium." ' Following her lead several others corralled the luckless Klugemann and rushed him to the nearest bed. They undressed him and put ice compresses upon him and tried to quiet him. He all the time was fighting vigorously for his freedom and frantically trying to explain. - "Hell be all right In a little while -one of the nurses volunteered, as she continued to administer opiates to the supposed patient So Klugemann remained in bed until some one had ocasion to enter the room of Klugemann's brother, and discovered the real patient
