CHANGES IN THE FACULTY. MANY NEW FACE3 WILL BE SEEN AMONG INSTRUCTORS NEW LADY PRINCIPAL ANNOUNCED OTHER CHANGES. The fall term at Earlham college will start the third week in September with the largest attendance that the institution has ever had in Its history. There will also be a number of changes in the faculty as some members have resigned and a number of new assistants have been needed in the different departments. The summer school closed yesterday after one of the most successful terms that has ever been held. The total enrollment was 215 besides the 40 In the library department. The school this year was twelve weeks long instead of six. The library school will be held here next summer. Miss Anna Moore, who will assist Prof. William N. Trueblood in the English department, is the daughter of the late Joseph Moore, former president of the college. Miss Moore has just arrived home from the university of Pennsylvania, where she has been studying. Ben H. Grave, who will assist D. W. Dennis in the biological department, is a graduate of John Hopkins university. During the summer he has been at the government laboratory, at Beaufort, N. C. Mis3 Florence Hansin will be the new lady principal. Miss Hansin is the secretary of the Y. W. C. A. Miss Helen Keyes. of New Haven, Conn., graduate of Vassar, will take the place of Miss Sarah D. Hill, in the German and French departments. PROPERTY BRINGS BETTER PRICES THAN EXPECTED The Starr and the Kolp properties offered for sale by the Richmond school board this afternoon, brought much better prices than was expected. The brick house on the Starr property was sold to August Johaning for $225. The Kolp frame property was the be3t of the two houses and brought $1,125, a price much above that of the most hopefuL It was sold to Richard I Adams, who will remove it to a lot on North A street, between Thirteenth and Fourteenth. The barn In the rear of the Starr lot was sold to G. H. Biles for $1S.oO, who also bought the fence and grape arbor for $4.X). The brick and the stone walks were sold to Walter Alexander for $5.00. New York, Aug. 29. Word has gone forth from Sagamore Hill that President Roosevelt will keep his hands off the warfare now being waged by republican bosses In this state to prevent the renominatlon of Gov. Hughes. With noninterference on the presi dent's part It Is assured that leaders opposad to another two years of Hughes as governor are preparing to givo the nomination to some man more after their own hearts. Two state leaders have gone bo far as to assert the governor cannot be renominated. This only In conversation with friends. All declared as a unit, however, that nothing would be left undone to accomplish the governor's defeat for nomination. "Unless the president changes his mind," said one of the most influential leaders, "Gov. Hughes will not be renominated. My opinion Is that the governor will not be named." Say Roosevelt Dislikes Hughes. The president's attitude on the question of renominatlon, it may be stated on good authority, is this: He dislikes the governor and is Just as anxious as any anti-Hughes leaders of the state to see him retired from public life.
