"But say," and there was almost appeal in his voice, "you see, I didn't know. I had never had a kid. "No, I wouldn't kidnap another child for all the money on earth." ' Pat secured a ransom of $25,000 after kidnapping Edward Cudahy, son of the millionaire Omaha packer. He was a fugitive for six years. Finally he arranged to surrender to the sheriff. The Omaha police learned of his Intention and laid for him. When he reached Omaha, they tried to take him, and in the gun fight that followed, Crowe wounded three of them and was himself twice wounded. He escaped to the Black Hills. Later he surrendered and was tried three times, once for shooting an officer, twice on the kidnapping charge. Each time the Jury acquitted him. Moore, suing for divorce, swears that her husband dictated what she should eat, what she should read, how she should dress, and what she should do. When she refused to eat, Mrs. Moore says he pried open her mouth and forced food down her throat. Once he forced a piece of limburger cheese, which 6he disliked, into her mouth. LIGHTNING'S PRANK. Big Bell In Church Began to Ring During Bad Storm. Rehoboth. Del., Aug. 1. Lightning played a strange prank when it struck the steeple of 'All Saints Protestant Episcopal church. The storm was at its height when suddenly the big bell in the steeple began to ring. Mrs. Jacob Pollard of Coal City, this county, married only six months and the wife of a wealthy farmer, was placed in jail here today, and she will be sent to the hospital for the insane at Indianapolis. Mrs. Pollard's hallucination is an unusual one. Some time ago she conceived the idea that the live stock on the farm should not eat, and for hours she would hold the tails of the cows with one hand, while with the other she beat them with a club when they attempted to eat
