INDIANA -ATTACKER BY EAGLE Only Intervention of Dog Saved His Life.

Nashville, Ind., July 30. John Boftlng, when walking In the woods near his home at Story, was attacked by an eagle, the bird striking him in the face with its claws, tearing the flesh and knocking him down. Bofflng scrambled to his feet and

tried to defend himself with an ax, but

the bird renewed the attack so quickly

that he was again knocked down. Blood streamed from his face, partially blinding him, and he was fast losing strength when his dog took part In the battle, detracting the bird's attention. Boffing then seized a club, and a well directed blow disabled the eagle, and it was killed with no further difficulty. The eagle measured five feelj from tip to tip.

"So you committed this burglary quite unassisted no accomplices?' asked a Judge. "Not one, my lord." replied the prisoner. "It is a risky thing to have a pal in my profession. I can never be sure whether he is honest or not!" London Telegraph.

Richmond Not the Least Bit Shocked By Directoire Gown

Please Let Your Children Choose Let them have the cereal they like best the one with the maple flavor. Encourage them to eat all they will of it. For no other food is so good in hot weather.

Just because Miss Myrtle RIgden, leading lady of the stock company at the Gennett this week, strolled onto the stage last evening in one of those naughty directoire gowns there was neither a riot nor police interference. (Muncie papers please copy.) In fact the big audience received the shock in a most calm and collected manner. But that is nothing unusual in a Richmond audience. Should a dynamite explosion some evening, rip out the entire stage it is the general impression that the audience would gaze placidly at the spectacle and then murmur, "Wonder what the next act will

be like?" Perhaps a few would gig

gle. Miss Rigden looked awfully cute last evening that's what a bald-headed man with opera glasses said. Her gown was of green silk, covered with a green netting. Hither and yon about the netting were scattered brilliant green spangles. The waist was cut very low about the neck In fact

We se maple syrup because of the flaw or simply as an enticement. Children jndge foods by taste. But here are some far more important facts which we desire to tell you : Mapl-Flake is whole wheat

The result is this : The wheat particles are so separated that the digestive juices can get to them. Mapl-Flake is all food, because it all digests. We conld make a flaked food is one-fourth of the time. But the only half would digest.

MANY OFFICERS ON DUTY.

Upon the recommendation of SupL Bailey, Daniel Drischel, former marshal of Cambridge City has been appointed as a special officer at Hagerstown. Drischel's duties will be restructed to the downtown district. Ten special officers were sworn in for duty at the fair grounds and Sheriff Meredith spent today looking after the peace and quietude and also safety of all visitors at the fair. Ambrose Dixon, the regular marshal of Hag; erstown, resigned his position a few

it looked as though the dressmaker had forgot to put a back in the waist. Green suspenders kept the waist from coming off that is one of them did. The other one slipped off the shoulder and rooped down Miss RIgden's arm in a most sassy manner. But the feature of the gown Is yet to be described. On the left side of the skirt was vacancy that extended from the hem nearly to the waist. Over this vacancy there was some filmy sort of stuff. Whenever Miss Rigden walked about the stage there would be flashes of orange hued tights. This made the color scheme as brilliant as a Colorado sunset. "Why I wouldn't wear one of them things on the street for a thousand dollars," murmured one girl Into the ear of another. "There's a lot of things I probably wouldn't do for a thousand dollars, but I can not think of one now," said a young man who carelessly overheard the remark. Officer Ed McNally said he thought directoire gowns were awfully nice.

High School to Be Erected Along Modern Lines. One of the many strong features of the new high school building which will be erected this fall will be the gymnasium. It is the belief of the board to make the high school gym as near like the Y. M. C. A. as possible. If this is the case the Richmond high school will have one of the best in the state. In speaking about the new building Mr. Mott 6aid that he believed that the board considered that the best place for the gymnasium would be on one side of the building taking in the cellar and first floor, so that it will be regulation height.
