.British Does Not Want It to Get Retail Trade.
London, July 16. Pressed to take
some action to prevent the American beef combine from obtaining control of the retail beef trade in Great BritIan, Winston Churchill, president of the board of trade has informed Lord Robert Cecil in the house of commons that the operations of the six firms constituting the beef combine were receiving the careful attention of the government. Mr. Churchill said that his investigations thus far had not yet convinced him of the necessity of appointing a house of commons committed ot-inccuicx.

tin prepared by Statistician Moore shows that the hens of Indiana layed 62.648,508 dozen eggs last year. In 1906 the total was 62,410.103 dozen. The Hamilton county hens won the pennant by laying 1,858,472 dozen. Jay County was second with L288.189 dozen and Allen county third with 18t,OA5s
