AND DICK IH AN ALLIANCE Wish to Force Nomination on Roosevelt to Defeat Taft. REVENGE CHIEF MOTIVE. 4T WAS TAFT WHO VETOED MEASURE DESIGNED TO BRING FORAKER BACK TO THE SENATEPECULIAR IS THE SITUATION. Chicago, May 28. The Record-Her-aald punishes the following Washington dispatch by Walter Wellman: One of the strangest spectacles to Tie seen upon the field of national politics is Gen. "Fire Alarm" Foraker leading the black brigade in a mad charge upon the Taft. entrenchments, 'shouting "Down with Taft Hurrah for la third term for Roosevelt!" More than once of late I have had 'occasion to point out what a queer ithing is the game of politics. But. we itihall all live a long time probably betfore we behold anything more picturesique and bizarre than Joseph Benson iForaker trying to start a stampede ifor a third term in order to defeat the anan who has beaten him out in Ohio p trying to destroy a new enemy by thrusting undesired honors upon an eld one. Ohio Senators Hate Taft. Paradoxical as it may appear, ForJaker is not only crazy to beat Taft, but tho wants to use Roosevelt to do the beating with. As I have explained in previous dispatches, it was Taft and ttiot Roosevelt who vetoed the Murray Crane compromise designed to bring Foraker back to the senate. This, in part, explains why the Ohio senators ihate Taft more than the President. iJFurthermore, if Taft should bo nominated at Chicago, the new regime in (Ohio politics is fixed and confirmed ifor years to come and in this new regime there is no room for either For&ker or Dick. So the Ohio senators have started a icrusade planned to convince the country that Taft can't be elected, while Roosevelt would have an easy victory. Model License League Makes Announcement of Its Plans. FIGHT IN SALOON RANKS. HOPE TO RID THE BUSINESS OF ALL DISREPUTABLE FACTORS, THEREBY DOING MUCH TO PUT BUSINESS ON HIGHER PLANE. New York, May 2S. Announcement has been made of the plans of the National Model License league, an organization whose Sx members hold a pecuniary interest in the liquor trade and represent a combined capital in excess of .5 X M . They propose to -waft0 a wide campain of education and publicity aimed to rid the liquor traffic of disreputable factors, divorce it from politics and thus contest the spread of prohibition and local option in the various states. This announcement was made by George R. Washburn, of Louisville, Ky.. secretary of the organization, who is here to study conditions in this state. "Of course our prime object is to check the extension of prohibition and local option laws," said Mr. Washburn. "But by a campaign of education we intend to show the public how much better the sale of liquor can be handled under proper license laws than under any prohibition or local option law. "We are going to cleanse the saloon business of the places which brings honest men into disrepute and to place it on a commercial plane similar to that held by any other commodity dispensing business." WAS IN A Before Widow Had Buried Husband She Got New Marriage License. WEDDING THIS WEEK. Baltimore, Md., May 2.-"Why shouldn't I get married? I'm not dead. It's my husband that's dead. Because one dies that's no reason we should all die. " So argued Mrs. Elizabeth Janke at her home at Towson this morning. Jol?n L. E. Janke. her fourth husband, died last Sunday and was buried yesterday. Before the funeral a license was taken out at Towson for the marriage of Mrs. .Tanke and George F. Roter, of Phoenix. "The wedding will take place between now and Sunday," said Mrs. Janke, this morning. "In fact, it's li-1 able to come any minute, but I can't say just when. "You know the scripture says 'Rejoice at an outgoing and grieve at an Incoming,' " laughed the merry widow. Fourteen young women of the Gas City public schools, learning that Harry Dragoo. principal of the high school, would soon become a benedict, thought it would be a novel thing to have a "shower" for him. They overwhelmed him with an assortment of neckties, socks and sundry articles that would aid materially in preparing for housekeeping. Mr. Dragoo. however, had heard of the plans and hf prepared for their coming. Upon their arrival he gave each of the guests a pretty announcement, tied with red, white and blue ribbon. The sky was cloudless and light fugitive winds were laden with the fragrance of forest and garden and the timber-covered shores were mirrored in the smooth waters of the bay, emptied of its merchant fleet, which hugged the clocks. Admiral Sperry remained in the harbor until this morning when the flagship followed by the Kansas, Vermont and Louisiana, sailed for San Francisco. That Delicious Maple Flavor We cook Mapl-Flake in pure Maple syrup, mainly for the children's sake. We make the one perfect food the one food that's all food. So we make it taste best, too.
You don't know what you miss you who lack Mapl-Flake. No other flaked food is even half so delicious. That's because of our Maple flavor. No other flaked food is half so digestible. That's because of our process of 96 hours. Please try it and see. We add the Maple syrup to make the food enticing:. We confess that. But the enticement is grood for you, and good for your children. It leads them to prefer the food that is best for them. The one wheat food which is made wholly digestible. Wheat, in the first place, is the premier food of the world. It has been for ages. We make Mapl-Flake of the finest wheat that is grown. We steam-cook It for six hours cook it in pure Maple syrup. Then we cure it for days, in a way that partly digests it. Then each separate berry is flaked so thin that the full heat of our ovens can reach every atom. Then we bake those flake at 400 degrees. Plaked food can be made in one-fourth of that time. And to shorten the process lessens the cost, of course. But tbe result will be food less than half as digestible. The cost of serving the cost of cream is the game as fox Mapl-Flake. The food value is half.

The balance ferments, instead of digesting and leads to digestive disorders. Wheat, to be digestible, must be made soluble. The particles must be separated so the digestive juices can get to them. That requires long cooking, long curing, and a fierce baking heat. It requires full '96 hours. Please try such a food and learn what it meant to you. You'll never again be content with the common foods. ' One 15c Package Free We would far rather buy the first package ourselves than to have you go without knowing it.
