SAYS HE THINKS THAT FOR EVERY BUILDING CONDEMNED BY PROPER AUTHORITIES AN ORDINANCE MUST BE PASSED.
WHEN THE ENGINE TRAVELING AT THE RATE OF FIFTY MILES AN HOUR, STRUCK THE OBSTRUCTION, WIRES SNAPPED.
After Councilman Deuker, chairman of the ordinance committee, asked Mayor Schillinger at council last evening for more time to prepare a building inspection ordinance, stating that the ordinance drafted in l!xt was ineffective and would have to be changed generally, City Attorney T. J. Study
took the floor and btated that in his'ihe train so as to permit robbery. The

Why! Overheat Yourself?
Much of your summer pleasure depends upon having a cool and comfortable kitchen. Why not be prepared for hot days before they come ? I' Ask your dealer to show the New Perfection Wick Blue Flame Oil Cook-Stove. It's a wonder. w Does the work of your big range in every particular, but
has this great advantage over it, that it never heats the kitchen. The
opinion it. would not be possible for the ! :ity council to pass a general ordi- ' r.ance providing for the inspection and 1 condemnation of buildings. ! Mr. Study stated that the section of ! the towns and cities code which covered this point was so worded that he j construed it to mean that for each ! building which the board of public j works "or other proper authority."
supposed to mean the fire chief, deemed to he unsafe, the city council would have to pass an ordinance condemning this special building. Mr. Douker asked Mr. Study that in the event the council could not pass a general ordinance providing for the condemnation of all buildings that the board of public works or the fire chief regarded as unsafe, what action would
b'? taken in case of an emergency. "When it would be necessary, in an emergency case, to condemn a building and tear it down without waste of time this action could not bo taken, under your construction of the statute, until ;i!l the council men had been gathered
i together and an ordinance condemning
the building had been passed," stated Mr. Dctiker. Mr. Study said that he thought council could enact a general ordinance providing for the municipal inspection of all buildings tinder construction and provide the manner in which they should be built, the material used and the heighth of the buildings, but that he was confident that it would be impossible to provide for the condemnation of buildings under a general ordinance.

train was running at a speed of fifty miles an hour when it struck the obstruction on a curve. There was on
ly a slight jar and it was not until after the train had stopped at Anderson that it was discovered there had been an attempted wreck. When the engineer endeavored to start the train at Anderson it was found there was something wrong with the engine. Investigation revealed two ties wedged tightly between the pilot and the rails. The engine had to be jacked up before the ties could be removed. Detectives hastened to the place of the attempted wreck Sunday morning ar.d have been working in the neighborhood for clues for two days. The place selected was on a curve approaching a long ravine. The scene is several miles from any farmhouse. The ties were piled up to a height of about two feet. When the train
struck them the wires binding them to the rails gave way and they were knocked aside with the exception of the pair that lodged under the pilot. Had the train left the rails, the destruction of life and property would have been awful. The train carried the usual crowd between Cincinnati and Chicago. Every berth in the sleeping cars was engaged and the day coaches were crowded. The mail and express cars were heavily loaded with valuable contents. The express mes
senger had several thousands of dollars in his custody.

A correspondent writes: While sailing off Felixstowe on August bank holiday last year I addressed a postcard to myself, stamped it and placed it in a bottle which I threw into the sea. I had quite forgotten about it but the other morning I received the card through the post bearing the Tromsoe (Norway) postmark and the sender's name and address. The bottle had been floating about nearly eight months. Londo Chronicle.
It's Impossible You ask,"Why should I buy Mapl-FIake? Why not cook a wheat food myself?" Because wheat starch, to be digestible, needs treatment that you can't give it. Our wheat is cooked for six hours. Then it is cured for 90 hours. Then flaked as thin as paper. Then toasted 30 minutes at 400 dcgTeesV That is all done to make the starch soluble; to separate the particles so the digestive juices can get to them. This is not so important when the stomach is strong. But, when the stomach is weak, it is of vital importance. The question is this: Will you have a food that's nil food, a food that will all digest, or shall part bo nourishment and part be waste, to ferment and breed germs in the stomach? There's the question of convenience, too. Xote the time required to even partly cook wheat. Mapl-FIake is ready to serve. Then the question of flavor how to make the children prefer the food that is best for them. We cook all our wheat in pure maple syrup, mainly for the children's sake.
The process we use is four times as long as that used on some flaked foods. But you get the result in the food value. That is why Mapl-FIake costs IS cents per package. If it were 10 cents, everybody would choose it among all the flaked foods. But consider the cream. That cost3 as much on poor food as on good food. Add that, and see how little you save by going without the food that you like best. "It's All Food"
