Huntington, Ind., May 14. Jessup and his trihe of Quaker warriors, were shoved further Into the coal bin of the league basement yesterday afternoon In a game that only went five Innings, being interrupted in that stanza by the weather man sprinkling gallons of drink all over the lot. Richmond out hit the Miamis but the Quaker hits carao at inopportune times and the only ones that counted came In the first of the fifth, when Shinn singled, stole second and counted on Parker's second sharp rap of the game. Brown was on the mound for the visitors fad he only allowed four hits, one a double, but they were all bunched and figured prominently In Huntington's score making. A change was made today in the Richmond lineup. Manager Jessup brought Cameron in from right field and stationed him on first base. Burns waa sent to right field. Clark was Brown's battery pardner and he caught a nice game. Mason or Fleming will be sent to the firing line Thursday and Manager Jessup and his braves will make a desperate effort to stem the tide of defeat. In the four games Richmond has played to date only three runs have been made. Summary:

STORMY SESSION. Van Wert and Muncie Teams in Brawl Van Wert Wins. Van Wert, O., May 14. In a rough, scrappy game, which, at one time assumed the proportions of a near riot. Van Wert took Muncie for a second time 6 to 3. The Muncie players kicked continually over Umpire Merker's decisions and so stormy were the proceedings that the police had to be called upon. The Van Wert players accused the visitors of "swiping" three balls. Kiel worked for the lo
cals and held Muncie down without a hit up to the eighth when the visitors bunched three on him, counting an equal number of runs. Outfielder Gillis worked on the mound for the Fruit Jars and pitched a nice game. The feature of the contest was the hitting of Grey. Summary:

Richmond Hopes to Start Winning Streak Beginning Tomorrow.
OLD FACES TO APPEAR.
The Richmond team returns home this evening after a disastrous trip to Huntington. Tomorrow afternoon the locals open a three game series with l"uie Hunt's famous Van Wert team. This outfit should be a god drawing card as the lineup contains many familiar faces, Gray, Campell, Jonas Bambaugh, "Ace" Stewart. Carmony and others. The outfit is also a scrappy one. Safe again on their home grounds the locals are expected to inaugurate a winning streak with Van Wert as the victims. As has been stated Van Wert will also be the attraction here Saturday and Sunday. To all three games women will be admitted free. Hunt will probably twirl the opener for Van Wert, while Mason or Fleming will he the local offering.

(By Tort.) If any local fans desire stimulating vncouragement, we refer them to the Detroit bugs. Their champions have been flirting with the American league vellar for some moons, but they are tiot in the least discouraged. There were ten reasons yesterday why the quakers lost the fourth vtraight. One was that it was the thirteenth of the month and the other nine were Jack Smith's huskies. Little Shinn has been playing a nice Vranie for the locals at Huntington. He has scored both of the Quaker runs made in that burg and has got a hit each game. He has also played a nice fielding game. The team will he homo tomorrow and will go against Hunt's fast Van Wert bunch. Just to shov tl.'i hoys that they still have confidence in them the fans should turn out in big bunches to greet them at Athletic park. Encouragement helps a whole lot. The Quakers showed yesterday that their batting eyes are returning. Now with an even break with hick they should start a winning streak. At the Richmond-Van Wert game tomorrow afternoon at Athletic park all
women will he admitted free. In fact women will he admitted free to every league game played here this season. Richmond fans have witnessed no warlike demonstrations on the part of the local team, but already the newspapers in the league circuit are telling their breathless readers what a terrible bunch of fighters the Quakers are. Why is it that every athletic team which represents Richmond is painted as a band of hostile Indians? At Eldorado the fast Gettysburg All Stars defeated the Eldorado team by a score of 12 to (I.
