IN SECOND CHILDHOOD PEOPLE BEAT MAN

Chicago, May Eighteen decrepit residents of the Bethesda Home for the Aged, their aggregate ages 1.27H years end average 71, driven by fear that they would be forced from their home, attacked Frark F. Henning. former manager of the bankrupt institution, and after beating him, threw him bodily from the building today, threatening vengeance if he returned.

Twelve of the aged inmates who1,

'beat up" the manager are women. The oldest man in the party is Heinrich .loarm, !." years old. The boiwe was forced into bankruptcy several months ago. and since then las been supported by private subscriptions. According to the story told by witnesses Mrs. Buttenbinder, 72 years old, caught Henning by the coat collar and raid:

Shelbyville, Ind.. May ."..-William Shepherd and Isaac. Wilson broke jail here. A saw was used in removing the lock from the cell. A bar was sawed from a window on the south side of the second floor. Wilson, who was indicted by the grand jury on a charge of larceny, was awaiting trial at the next term of court. Shepherd was found guilty of attacking a child. Pearl Ingermeier. of Van Bitren Township. He was serving a six months' sentence. He also had a fine of Sl.Oon against him. Wilson became ill and was removed to the second floor of the jail. Later Shepherd also became ill and was transferred. The men crawled through a hole eighteen inches square to escape. Sheriff Butler has sent telegrams to ;;djoining towns and offered a reward of S'J5 for information leading to the arrest of the fugitives.
