April 22. - Theodore McConneis, an automobile machinist, was almost killed this morning by a peculiar accident, received while working with a flying saw in a saw mill. While he was poking sawdust from under the saw. wiih a lath, the saw, (aught ihe lath, jabbing it into McConneis and hurling him against a partiinui iweui. jeei ,111(11. 1 A medical examination revealed the fact that the unconscious man had three frattured ribs and that, one of these ribs had punctured a lung McConneis was also suffering from an internal hemorrhage. The attending physician states that in the event pneumonia does not set in there is a chance for his recovery. COURT GIVES FINE TO Smythe Went on Warpath With Hatchet. Edgar Smythe was fined $10 and costs this morning in the city court on a charge of provoke made by Edward Bryant. Yesterday. Bryant testified. Smythe. under the influence ot" liquor, came to his home, brick in hand and began to quarrel. There was no meeting of the board of directors Tuesday, notwithstanding rumors to that effect. Today is the rcgelar weekly meeting day. On May 1 the hoard meets in special session to act on the dividend for the past months. There is much conjecture as to whether the regular dividend tate of 7 per cent will be adhered to, or a reduction to a i percent rate decided upon, but nobody in authority here professes to have any knowledge on the subject. It is learned that the company has been incorporated in Europe to bring out the issue of ,Slo.(.-(n,o4:o of first mortgage four per cent, bonds which Pennsylvania railroad company is expected to announce soon. It is understood that Kuhn. Ioeb & Co.. will have charge of the issue, and it is reported that the bonds will be secured by a first mortgage on the company's New York terminal propert ies. With an attendance of nearly 30 the fourth annual state convention of the Master Raker's Association of Indiana opened here yesterday afternoon. It was announced at the opening session in a report of a special committee that the project to establish a course in scientific baking at Purdue univorsifv had failed, ihe Purdue trustees deciding that the university had not the means to take up the work at this time and recommending that the bakers make their proposition to a trades school. ALL INDIANA PRESIDENTIAL DELEGATES WILL GET TOGETHER AND LAY PLANS FOR NATIONAL CONVENTION. Indianapolis. April 22. A meeting of the Indiana delegates to the republican national convention will be held the latter part of next week. Chairman Goodrich will issue a call as soon as the date is fixed. It is likely that republican leaders from throughout the' state will gather here at Lie s;ime time, and that arrangements will be made to whoop things up for Vice President Fairbanks at Chicago. All of the Indiana delegates are instructed for the vice president, and are expected to vote for hini as long as he indicates; a desire to stay in the race. It is likely that the delegation will be organized tit the meeting next week, and that Senator Beveridee vill bo elected chairman. It is said also that he will place the vice president in nomination, making the principal speech in his behalf. The Indiana delegation will have headquarters at the Auditorium hotel.
