Tents -ill be pitched in the auditorium and the Big Chief and his band of counsellors will enter upon a conclave which will be one of particular importance to all braves of the section. Otonkah Tribe is making preparation to act as host and will provide the peace pipes and the dog stews. The Indiana braves are expected to assemble in great numbers from out of the forest glens and hillsides, the signs end signals calling them to Connersville have been displayed and the call vill not be unanswered. The program will consist of the reception of the Great Chiefs, and visiting tribes in the morning; the kindling tof the great council fire at !:." p. m., to confer the Past Sachem degree on ell brothers entitled thereto. At two O'clock the tribal council fire will be kindled, which all degree" members can ettend, for instructions in the secret ork, roll call of tribes and questions to the Great Chiefs. At 7 p. m.. a parade will form at the Wigwam and march to the auditorium, Vhere from 7:3 to S:K o'clock, short talks will be made by the Great Chiefs. Work will promptly begin at K o'clock. For the accommodation of visiting brethren the large theatre has been fcecured and the work will be done on the large stage with appropriate stage Bettings and scenery and electric lights for the tableaux. Vaudeville at the Phillips. No one who goes to tho vaudeville at the New Phillips this week will have reason to complain of tho bill that is being offered patrons of the house. It Is a lively one throughout and appeared to give entire satisfaction to the audience that attended Monday night; a much larger audience than might reasonably have been expected, considering the very disagreeable weather. The Four Franks head the program with their farce comedy, entitled "A Mixed Affair," a

production that affords opportunities for comedy situations and some solos and quartets. The Franks are already known to patrons of the New Phillips end they received a cordial welcome after an absence of some months. Mark Johnson, comedy trick cyclist, is wirffout doubt one of the best in this line ever appearing at the New Phillips. West and Benton, singers and Bancers, are genuine specimens of the refined vaudeville entertainers and the former gives an imitation of Primrose, the minstrel man, that is very clever. Charles Harris, character comedian, has an unusual stunt in which his overwhelming homely maketip cuts an important part He concludes with a representation of '"The Old Time Girl." The illustrated song, as sung by Mr. Cook this week, is "I Long to See You Once Again" and the xnotlon pictures are entitled "A Corsican's Daughter" and "The Lost Umbrella. There will be a souvenir matinee for the ladies on Wednesday and a special matinee for the children on Baturday. Saturday night the usual double Nil will be given.

St. Louis, March 31. In response to a call issued on December 2 by Chairman James H. Ferris, of the People's party national committee, the national Fopulist convention will be held on April 2 in the Olympic Theater for the purpose of nominating candidates for President and Vice-President of the United States and transacting such other business as may come before the convention. There will be 1,100 delegates in the convention, all of whom have been instructed to vote for Thomas E. Watson, of Georgia, for President, except the Nebraska delegation of thirty-seven, who are instructed to vote for Mr. Bryan, and the Alabama delegation, who favor former Congressman M. W. Howard."

If there were no other indications, the long line of fishermen that maybe seen along the banks of the Whitewater river eai afternoon is a sure sign that spring has come. Students of Franklin college are making complaint because of the fact gymnasium work has been made compulsory. It will be credited and no excuse, other than physical inability is to be acceptable. Anderson, Ind., March 31. Tho grand jury has begun investigating the murder of Mrs. William M. Blake, of this city at her home, Saturday, 21st inst. Numerous witnesses, most of them neighbors of the Blake family, and people who saw Grover Blake on the day of the murder, have been subpoenaed as witnesses.

Probably the most distinguished speaker who will be present at the annual convention of the Northern Indiana Teachers" association which will meet in Indianapolis this week, will be President Charles W. In response to popular demand, the school board of Fort Wayne has decid-. ed to conduct a night school for persons between the ages of fifteen and thirty. It has been suggested often that the local school board operate a night school, but the matter never has received serious consideration by the school board. The undertaking at Fort. Wayne is in the nature of an ex-! periment. and its continuance and en-' largement will depend upon the attendance. But one teacher w ill he employed and all the branches will be taught, so that children, who are employed during the daylight hours, may have the same advantages they would enjoy in the graded schools. The school board has promised to broaden the work and hire as many teachers as are needed.
