CHECKING SYSTEM IN COLUMBUS CHURCHES Novel Methods to Be Inaugurated Soon.

Columbus. Ind.. March A check ing system is to be installed next Sunday at the Tabernacle Christian church, after which no woman who attends the church will have any excuse for wearing a hat during the services. The church has lately been remodeled and in the big reception hall in front a great variety of racks have been placed. Two men will be in charge of this department every Sunday who will check hats, coats, cloaks, umbrellas, baby cabs and the like, and the church officials have finnounced that not a feather on the radies' hats will be ruffled. In the rear of the church a room is to be set apart where babies may be taken when they cry. Many women in the congregation say they would be glad to come to church if they had some place to take their -babies when the little ones fret and cry.

It will cost the United States government $750,000 a year for the supervision of railroad accounts under the present interstate commerce act. according to a communication from the interstate Commerce commission, transmitted to the house by Secretary Cortelyou. This estimate does not cover such examiners as may be required later to supervise the accounting; methods of express companies, water lines and pipe lines.
