LABOR'S POWER III POLITICAL WOULD
! Will?Be a Strong and Determining Factor in Coming Campaign.
IS OPPOSED TO TAFT,
fcAFOLLETTE, IT IS CLAIMED, IS TrvCPARTICULAR FAVORITE OF GOMPERS AND HIS ORGANIZATONFOR PRESIDENT.
Washington, March 26. Late developments confirm the belief that the mass meeting called by the American Federation of Labor, to take place in every city and town in the country on the nights of April 19 and 20. will develop into an anti-Taft demonstration.
land forms of resolutions' denouncing 'Taft, intended to be introduced and I adopted at these meetings, already are lnff prepared. Sanluet Gompers and his associates iia the management of the American Federation of Labor movement to enj force labor's demands through politl'al activity, believe they have made Bach progress in the last few years as to warrant the expectation that next November labor will elect that candi- ; date for president whom it favors, and defeat any man it opposes. There is no doubt of the grave concern which politicians of both parties feel about the situation. La Follette is Preference. There is the best authority for saying that Gompers, though careful to ive no public expression of opinion, would prefer La Follette for president to any other man in the republican list of possibilities. Politiclana of both parties are conTlnced tUat labor is nearer to effective organization into a political phalanx tii an ver before.

Columbus. Ind.. March A check ing system is to be installed next Sunday at the Tabernacle Christian church, after which no woman who attends the church will have any excuse for wearing a hat during the services. The church has lately been remodeled and in the big reception hall in front a great variety of racks have been placed. Two men will be in charge of this department every Sunday who will check hats, coats, cloaks, umbrellas, baby cabs and the like, and the church officials have finnounced that not a feather on the radies' hats will be ruffled. When a man or a store starts with an ideal and works toward it steadily, unwaveringly persistently, the result is sure to be heard of in circles frequented by thoughtful people. Seven years ago this month the Hoosier entered the said to be and already overcrowded field with a firm resolution to do something different. We believed that if a good class of goods could be handled on a close margin of profit, it would be a success. To do this, we must sell for cash and one price, and low expense account. Every one who knows the Hoosier is struck with one thing it is alive. It does things different from any other store in Richmond. It has different methods. It is healthy. Right now its aisles, its floors, its counters, are throbbing with the spirit of spring, holding the attention and catching the fancy of men and women who know good values when they see them. A store may move along by copying and imitating, but if it chooses to cut its own path, it must do something different. It must do something new. Hence our success.
