Riley told the court how she had been deserted by her husband. William. She said he had not been very nice to her even during their short period of domestic felicity. According to her story, William spent a large port ion of his wages for strong drinTi and was in the habit of coming home in an intoxicated condition and abusing her. The judge awarded the divorce. Passamore Sasscr told the court a storv' of inhuman cruelty on the part of her husiinnd. James, and the judge was so impressed that lie granted the divorce post haste. The woman stilted that, during her married life the only provision made for her by her husband, was one dress skirt costing and two pairs of shoes, each costing si. .".'. Tlii.--, was not the worst. The third case was that of Clara Thomas vs. John B. This case was heard this afternoon. Thf testimony was highly interesting and a large number of "witnesses wej-p on the stand. The defenriati is a mrive of Wales. The plaintiff declared he had forced her to leave their farm near Greensfork, and wished to dispose of the property to enable him to return to Wales. SALE AVERTED. Property Will Not Be Disposed of to Satisfy Mortgage. The .sale of the Swoveland farm in Jefferson township, which was advertised to take place Monday, will not be held.
