THE

CORSET

These remarkable corsets have only recently been introduced into this country from Paris and at a single bound have taken rank ahead of all other corsets. Not only is their NEW PRINCIPLE of LACING IN FRONT which amounts to invention, a distinguishing essential of

L'lrresitible and G

THE OSSARD CORSET

but the strength of their design and beauty of their materials and excellence of their manufacture, make them as a production unapproached by any other brand of corsets for Style, Comfort and Health

Constantly on the alert to place at the command of our patrons, those advanced ideas in woman's apparel that distinguish one store in the city for unquestioned leadership in style, and quality, it has been our reward to secure exclusive representation in Richmond of the makers of these wonderful corsets, to which written description cannot do justice. Instead of endeavoring to describe them, we 4 extend a sincere and cordial invitation to come see for yourself this foundation for a perfect costume at the exploitation demonstration which will be given in our corset section commencing next Monday, tinder the supervision of an expert corsetiere, the personal representative of the makers.

Th Twilight Of Life. The muscles of the stomach in old asre are not s strong: or active as in youth and in cons, qurnce old people are very subject to constipation and indigestion. Many seldom have a bowel movement without artificial aid. Many, ulso. have unpleasant eructations of eras from I tie stomach after eating-. All this can be avoided by the nse of Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin, which permanently regulates the bowels so that passages come naturally, and so strengthens the stomach that food is digested without discomfort. Druggists sell it at 50 cents or U Urge bottle.

Washington, D. C, Feb. 27. It looks as though the administration is getting ready to brandish the "big stick" before the so-called republic of Venezuela, for Senator Lodge, of Massachusetts, offered a resolution in the senate to which no objection was offered, calling for the papers in the famous Bernmdez asphalt case. The case on more than one occasion has almost precipitated a rupture of friendly relations between the United States and Venezuela, and it was only by the exercise of unusual forbearance that President Castro was not chastised with the president's figurative weapon. One reason this government did not proceed to discipline him was that Secretary Root has been doing his utmost to promote greater cordiality between the countries to the south of us and a display of power, no matter how justifiable, might have interfered with his plans. But now it seems that determined effort1; are about to be made to bring Castro to account. The Bermudez company is an American corporation, controlled in New York. Some time ago it was fined $,";. RW-O by the Venezuelan courts and in addition it was assessed the cost to the government of suppressing the last revolution against Castro on the ground that it

had fomented the insurrection. The f.'ne was relatively much heavier than that imposed upon the Standard Oil company last year by Judge Landis at Chicago, which amounted to $29,400,000. The asphalt company claims it cannot get justice in the Venezuelan courts, and has made repeated appeals to Washington to secure for it a square deal at Castro's hands.

A NIGHT ALARM

Worse than an alarm of fire at night is the metallic cough of croup bringing dread to the household. Careful mothers keep Foley's Honey and Tar in the house and give it at the first sign of danger. Foley's Honey and Tar has saved many little lives and it is the only safe preparation for children as it contains no harmful drugs. A. G. Luken & Co.

JOHNSON TO SPEAK BEFORE PREPS CLUB

Political Aspirations Interfere With His Accepting OneWill Mean a New Local Pastor.

In a little more than a month many of the Methodists of Richmond and

Wayne county will move on Anderson, the purpose being to attend the annual sessions of the North Indiana conference, which includes this section of the state. It is understood that tho report that will be submitted by the Rev. Thomas H. Guild, of this city, presiding elder of the Richmond district, will be one of the most flattering that has ever been submitted for this territory. There have been many successful revivals and much church improvement has been made. Especial interest will center in the assignments for another year. Probably the Rev. J. O. Campbell, pastor of the Fifth Street church, will not take an appointment next year, owing to his political aspirations, and this will mean a new pastor at Fifth Street. Whether any other changes will ba made in Richmond or not is not known, but it is intimated there will be at least one other change. A dispatch from Anderson says of the conference: The official program for the 65th annual session of the North Indiana conference of the Methodist Episcopal church, to be held in this city April 1-6, has been issued by the Rev. Cassius C. Cissell, pastor of the First M. K. church, of this city.

It is announced that all the principal sessions of the conference will be heTJ at the First M. E. church, and that the presiding bishop will be Joseph F. Berry, D. D., LL. D., of Buffalo, N. Y. Use of other churches in the central part of the city has been tendered for overflow meetings. The lay electoral conference, for election of lay delegates to the General Conference, will open Friday morning, April 3, at the Central Christian church, two blocks north of the First M. E. church. Tho meeting of the Men's Methodist Brotherhoods and the Holy Grail will take place Sunday evening, April 5, at the First Presbyterian church. Practically all the pulpits of local churches will be occupied on April 5 by the visiting ministers. Assignments Come Late. The appointments of ministers will, as usual, be made public in the closing hour of the conference session. The territory of the North Indiana M. E. conference includes the counties of Elkhart, Lagrange, Steuben, Kosciusko, Noble, Dekalb, Whitley, Allen, Miami, Wabash, Huntington, Wells, Adams, Howard, Tipton, Grant, Blackford, Jay, Hamilton, Madison, Delaware, Randolph, Hancock, Henry and parts of the counties of St. Joseph, Marshall.
